An action packed week long family adventure, combining Marrakech and the Atlantic coast
Join a local family in the Atlas for lunch to get an insight into traditional Moroccan life
Ride a camel on the beach at Essaouira on the Atlantic and try your hand at surfing
From the lively heart of Marrakech to the serene shores of Sidi Kaouki, this 8-day Moroccan adventure is perfect for those seeking a taste of tradition, nature, and coastal relaxation. Explore the labyrinthine souks and famous Djemaa el Fna square, then trade city bustle for the tranquil Atlas foothills, where a gentle walk and a tagine-cooking lesson with a local family await.
The journey continues to the Atlantic coast, with camel rides along wild beaches, surfing opportunities, and time to wander the atmospheric old town of Essaouira. The easy activity level ensures all travelers can enjoy the full experience, with plenty of free time for personal exploration.
What distinguishes this tour is its hands-on immersion in Moroccan life—learning to cook with locals, sampling fresh seafood by the harbor, and discovering Morocco’s top surfing spots. For those who crave a blend of culture, light activity, and sun-drenched leisure, this trip delivers unforgettable moments at every turn.
Great first family trip with Explore. We couldn't decide whether to do this or the Atlas and desert trip but thoroughly enjoyed the various elements of this trip and Essaouira was a particular highlight with its lovely beach and authentic old town along with cool bars and restaurants. The accommodation through out was of a high standard. Although the second hotel was not the one in the trip notes - and seems like that has been a quite longstanding change - since the earthquake so that should be updated. The accommodation in Essaouira was downplayed but was lovely. We enjoyed all the activities, the walk in the mountains was long but lovely, the tangine cooking fun and the walk there in Taradaunt beautiful. The camel ride was a highlight and something I'd never have booked independently. We were a little disappointed not to have had time for the surfing lessons in Essaouira, again possibly something that should be updated in the trip notes. The guides throughout were excellent and Ridouane did a great job of keeping us on track and informed and adapting the trip to our needs. Others have mentioned the length of the journeys but I think I expected that and expectations were appropriately managed for us in the trip notes. Final highlight was the other families all of whom were lovely with great kids of similar ages.
Simply a brilliant trip. The locations were fantastic, our tour guide superb and our fellow travellers wonderful. My family and I had a wonderful time. Thoroughly recommended.
Excellent trip in general. Only negative points for me were that some accommodation was a little tired, the mosque is destroyed but still on the agenda, the argon oil sales trip was a waste of time and there could have been less driving. But many more positives than negatives
A family trip to Morocco, good to see the Atlas Mountains and enjoyable (not not long enough) time in Essaouira, overall made a success by the other group members on the trip. The middle trip days over the Atlas mountains include an awful amount of travel (5 hours a day), especially for the children. The tour has not accommodated a change from the impact of the earth quake and with the Tin Mal Mosque severely damaged it is not possible to even walk around outside, this results in the travel having little purpose. Other options to entertain the children and ensure each day has an engaging purpose could be considered (plus never believe the tour guide when they say how long it is in time, add another 25% at least!).
