My tour guide Euri was incredible! She put everyone first and made sure at every meal we had everything we needed before she sat down. She was fun, professional and a pleasure to be with. I would defiantly want to go on another trip with her as my guide.
Eurie was the best tour leader ever! Patient, funny, kind , interesting, knowledgeable!
Another great trip from Explore. The tour leader Euri and her tech assistant Angel were both amazing, resolving problems with local providers so us guests hardly noticed. Bike quality good, hotels fine and packed and interesting itinerary. Only negative was the rides were a little boring on miles of uninteresting roads. Great trip nonetheless.
A lovely holiday with a great mixture of cycling and history. The cycling was pleasant through the flat countryside. The bikes were good. Our tour guide, Victor, was excellent and very knowledgeable about the sites and knew just how much information we wanted, a highlight was swimming in the cenotes. He directed us to interesting local restaurants. Angel, our driver, was great. Hotels were local with character.
A short but excellent tour of the peninsula with gentle cycle rides along flat, if rather uninspiring countryside. Great food and other activities. Riaz is the best tour leader we have had.
Amazing tour guide Riaz , huge knowledge about the history of the area and many other things. He made it for us , so helpful and informative
Very difficult for the guide to gauge the ability of the group as a whole I thought some of the rides could be a little more demanding. However it was a fantastic week and the guide after a shaky start went out of his way to make the trip a success for all. MEXICO NEEDS TO CLEAN UP ITS ACT, RUBBISH IS DUMPED EVERYWHERE SPOILING THE ENVIRONMENT "WHAT A SHAME IN SUCH BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS".
The group leader Mata was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for him and his knowledge of the area and the history was excellent. I felt the cycling routes could have been more interesting as they were often on straight roads with no view and on one occasion there and back on the same road. I would have been happy to cycle more and be on the bus for less time. Accommodation and choice of restaurants were all very good.
This was our second cycling holiday with explore, but it was quite disappointing. Our guide was great and we enjoyed visiting all the historical sites and beautiful towns and swimming in the cenotes and the beautiful Caribbean sea, however due to the dreadful state of the bikes provided hours of the holiday were wasted sorting out problems with them each day, some were in a dangerous state. The minibus provided was very cramped for the full tour of 16 guests and extremely hot - we were told to close the curtains to keep the heat out - so we were in this minibus for up to 4 hours each day not even able to see out of the windows in a country we had come to visit for the first time, it was like sitting in a dark tunnel! The bike rides were all very similar, long straight roads with jungle on each side - even the description of a couple of the rides said we would be cycling along the coast which we imagined along by the sea, but you could not see the sea due to the mangroves or jungle and the circular tour on an island turned out to be and out and back ride again next to the sea but you could not see it due to the jungle again - such a shame!
This was a cycling holiday but the bikes were not fit for purpose. Each time we set off on a ride there was a delay whilst various bikes were adjusted or repaired which then delayed the planned itinerary. On one occasion this meant that our ride in Merida took place at dusk with no lights. It also meant less time for stops when we were cycling and shortened routes. My husband , who is an experienced cyclist fell off his bike going over a speed bump and we feel that the condition of the bike was a factor in this. Our tour leader was very helpful and did her best to manage the challenges of the trip remaining cheerful and enthusiastic throughout. The boat trip and the beautiful beaches were the highlights for me.
A very memorable experience, it was the first time I had done a trip of this type and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
