There were too few included tours, and too many optional tours at additional cost. Our tour director, the coach driver, and the local tour guides were all excellent.
This trip was jam-packed with fun and interesting experiences! The driver and tour director were excellent guides in this exciting, fast-paced indulgence into the capitals of Scandinavia. Shout out to the local hosts that were very knowledgeable in their areas of expertise. A+ to Trafalgar for including an overnight cruise into Helsinki, many optional excursions and an outstanding Be My Guest luncheon. Well done!
This was our eighth trip, with Trafalgar and the first seven trips were excellent! Unfortunately, something has changed with the Trafalgar travel experience, and this trip was a disappointment. The accommodations were mediocre at best, and many other issues were discouraging. We won't be taking any more trips with Trafalgar.
It was a fun tour overall with as an excellent tour guide. Our driver was the best! One negative was that the short cruise to view the fjords did not really represent a true fjord which were further up the Norwegian coast. Also The Helsinki tour guide was a bit boring with fact after fact recited as if she was reading from a script.
Loved it. Old have skipped lce bar,but Enjoyed the rest. Guide was great.
We enjoyed tour much, itinerary was good, information provided throughout was complete and accurate. We did not enjoy ferry to Helsinski. Super expensive and bad food choices. Is there any other route to get to Helsinski?
great overview of the countries Lassee very knowledgable
It was a wonderful trip. The only criticism I have is one of the hotels didn’t have air conditioning. We opened the window, but it was really loud and it allowed all the cigarette smoke from the street into our room.
We felt we received the Vikings experience. The Scandinavian countries are beautiful, clean and food was delicious. Our tour guide was the best and highly recommended.
Too many optional experiences and fewer non- optional items on the itinerary. The tour director and driver were excellent.
I did not expect to spend two entire days on coach to cross countries for nine hours each day! The hotel in Oslo was in the middle of nowhere. When we got there after one day on the bus, the metro tickets for city tour were all sold out. The TD wasn’t very helpful in offering us a ride to downtown when he was headed to the downtown with the optional tour group. Also, this tour included only the local city tours at each of the capitals. Everything else was pretty much optional adding to the total cost.
Many new experiences. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. We met some very nice folks to travel with. Trafalgar never disappoints.
Very organized. Places we visited were all very interesting/ beautiful. Our tour director was fun, accommodating and knowledgeable.
This was an exciting experience and I enjoyed packing in all of the places we visited. Felt like Norway was a short stay but also not sure what else there would have been to do. Didn't seem like there was much of an old historic part for shopping. The 2 bus ride days were long but made the ride fun and informative. had the trip planned very well and did a great job at adhering to the schedule.
Good coverage but travel director made the difference in bringing additional information to travellers , keeping us well engaged through out the trip. Restaurants well appointed and recommendations that enabled us to sample local cuisine
It was great, the tour guide was so so amazing and so was the bus driver . Cannot say a negative thing about them. Their service, care and standard was unbeatable. A few disappointments along the way but it was more to do with the hotel standards, aircons not working at all, shower not working, our family being kept in rooms on different levels , even though we had young kids , however we were situated in rooms next to other couples on the tour. These things are not a fault of Trafalgar however! More a fault of the hotels.
My 18 year old son and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on our Capitals of Scandinavia tour we went on earlier this month. We ended up going on all of the extra tours that Trafalgar suggested and they were well worth the money. The pace of the trip (staying 2 nights in each city) was perfect for both our ages (18 and 58). The Scandinavian countries are beautiful and clean, and the Nordic people are happy and kind. Not only do I recommend this tour whole-heartedly, but I would go on it again in the near future. My son was celebrating his graduation from high school and I was celebrating my 58th birthday and were so swept up in the moment, that we even got matching tattoos in Stockholm.
Five countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Estonia) claim to be the happiest place in the world. On this trip, you will discover that each country has legitimate claims to that title. You get to examine those claims in detail by consuming great food, staying at superior hotels, overnight cruising in a modern floating hotel of a ship, and getting a taste of each country’s history and culture - all under the careful guidance of expert local guides and a Tour Director who stays with you all the way, making sure that everything goes as planned. A prefect, care-free way to experience Scandinavia.
Just wish we knew ahead of time about the adventures and the cost
hotel locations were good except for Oslo. daily itinerary with approximate time stoppages during excursions and coach travel would have been helpful. for the 3 special reserved restaurant seatings; a couple should be sitting together especially on their wedding anniversary.
The itinerary got boring. Or maybe it was the local guides. " on your left is ___ building, on your right is ___ building, etc. etc. etc. No stories, no local information. I felt like I was on a bad architectural tour.
This was our fifth Trafalgar trip; I rate it last. Too much time on the bus and on ferries. Rather than traveling through villages, we were on highways often. We learned very little about the history. The local specialists were weak - often heard "On your left coming up, . . . ." But, we never saw what she was talking about. They talked way too fast and said the foreign words so quickly I couldn't even attempt to write down what they might have been saying to look up later. The exception was *personal info removed by Feefo* who was excellent. The others never allowed for any time to ask a question. Our Trafalgar guide spent more time sending out Whatsapp than interacting with us or sharing about the areas. He gave directions way too early - long before we reached where we were going. Some of it is likely our fault - didn't realize the trip was literally focused on stops in just cities. I learned I like the smaller villages and local places more. Thought we would learn about the Vikings - only learned they didn't wear helmets with horns. I would not recommend this trip to anyone.
*personal info removed by Feefo* were great. *personal info removed by Feefo* was helpful, informative, provided meaningful context to the areas, spent time talking with us as individuals as well as a group. The local guides brought an added dimension from actually living in the country. The Be My guest and Farewell Dinner offered wonderful local cuisine in special historic settings. The hotels were well located and offered a glimpse of history. A perfect walk with the past in the present. Five Stars.
A fun and experience-packed agenda. led with passion, enthusiasm and knowledge. Great local specialists. Healthy flavorful meals. Wonderful sights. And just a beautiful part of the world to visit and enjoy. And wonderful driving by .
Super nice itinerary with many choices for excursions…… Sis not care for 1 thing - the Oslo fjord boat ride. It was just a harbor cruise, not scenic like we thought it was described Would have rather more time in town instead. was terrific, the quintessential guide! Knowledgeable efficient & very personable! I like it when you can stay in a hotel 2 nights not 1 Needed more fish offered for group meals That was disappointing as I dont like most meats. Being on the water so much & given the culture/history, thought that wouldve been a choice
This was our second trip with Trafalgar and hopefully won't be our last. We had a fabulous time! The additional trips are expensive, but we enjoyed the ones we did. The Vasa is a must-see. We thought about going to the folk museum (to see the Stave Church) in Oslo on our own, but we decided to take the tour and I'm glad we did because having the guide take us through the museum gave us a much better understanding of what we were seeing. All the meals on the additional trips were excellent. Having said that, I did some research before we left and we enjoyed some time on our own, particularly in Stockholm. Using local transportation in European cities is easy and adds to your experience of the place -- the Tunnelbana in Stockholm is a destination in itself. We added a day on each end of the tour, so weren't eligible for the airport transfers. This is something Trafalgar should fix, considering we booked the extra days through them! The quoted cost for airport transfers was ridiculous -- $183 CAD per person in Copenhagen, and there are 3 people in our family, so over $500 for a 20-minute ride from the airport to the hotel. Needless to say, we took the super-efficient local train system, which is attached to the airport, for $36 total. Hopefully when the Viking Ship museum in Oslo re-opens in 2027 there will be some actual Viking-related artifacts to see as part of the tour. We were fortunate to find a Viking exhibit at the National Museum in Copenhagen on our extra day, and also saw the crown jewels in Rosenborg Castle. So, I highly recommend Trafalgar for their wonderful guides and drivers (thank you and !), for the included city tours and meals, nice hotels and smooth travel from place to place. But don't be afraid to go off on your own as well!
It was a magnificent Trafalgar Tour of the capitals of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. We did not go on to the optional trip to Estonia as there was plenty to see while in Helsinki. My wife and I were very pleased with all the fascinating sights and restaurants we visited with the tour. The ferry cruise was a highlight. Our Tour Director, was the most perfect host and guide -- so worldly, informed on all geopolitical and public affairs issues in Europe, friendly, considerate, a pleasure to travel with, and Trafalgar is lucky to have him. Thanks to all who planned this trip.
Great blend of organized tours and free time to explore these amazing cities. Our travel director, was always approachable and thorough with his communications. The local guides were knowledgeable and fun.
Great itinerary and you see a lot. There are 2 long travel days though..
Fantastic-full of world history and worldly adventures!
It was a great way to get a country city tasting of the 4 capitals. I hadn’t taken a Trafalgar tour before but was pleasantly surprised at how easy and how much I was able to see and learn in short stays in the cities
The Be My Guest luncheon on the way to Oslo was a real highlight. The setting, the lunch and the service was a 5,star experience ! That needs to be a regular stop. The optional experience in Oslo of seeing Oslo’s fiord by boat was a disappointment. Like riding around a harbor. The promo was a little misleading ….while it meets the definition of a fiord not the scenic views one was looking forward to. Tallin was a fabulous day in Estonia.
My wife Gail and I thoroughly enjoyed the Capitals of Scandinavia tour. This was our sixth Trafalgar tour, which was another amazing and memorable experience enhanced by our very knowledgable tour guide as well as the expertise and comfort provided by our driver. Compared to our five other European experiences, the Capitals of Scandinavia offered an unique experience of it's own in that we were able to spend more time in each of the capital cities with the opportunity of experiencing more optional tours to learn the historical information or to explore some of the areas on our own with guidance and advice of our tour guide, enjoying the sites and cuisine on our own. My wife and I enjoyed doing all of the optional tours and also were able to find some valuable time on our own to explore, while others in our group took different approaches, opting to do fewer excursions and venturing off to enjoy each city based on the combination of the advice offered by our exceptional tour guide and their own previous knowledge and research. In comparison to other Trafalgar European tours we have enjoyed, there were more optional experiences offered due to less road time, but at an overall comparable cost as our other tours. This was definitely a must do bucket list trip.
was an excellent tour director. The areas that came with the tour were fantastic; however, the excursions were necessary to explore and learn more about each area. A lot of time was spent traveling from country to country. Next time, I’d cover less space, more intensely.
It was a wonderful tour. The tour director, *personal info removed by Feefo* was amazing as was our driver, *personal info removed by Feefo* *personal info removed by Feefo* knowledge of Scandinavia was so informative and every day was an adventure. A truly excellent overview of Scandinavia and gave you a thirst to explore the area more. A truly enjoyable tour from start to finish. Thank you.
Seeing the capitals was great, we loved it. Some of the extras that we chose to do felt a bit rushed. Would of been nice if the tour guide was more engaging and outgoing with the travellers. He was polite and friendly and very knowledgeable.
The trip was wonderful. We saw beautiful parts of Scandinavia and had many exciting experiences. Our tour guide, *personal info removed by Feefo* was very kind, patient, and welcoming to everyone. He was so knowledgable about the places we went on the tour, the history of each country, and answered any questions we had each day. The museums were interesting, the restaurants were excellent, and the daily tours were a pleasure. I would highly recommend this tour.
The day in Estonia was really not worth it. It was a rushed old city tour, then way too much free time in the completely touristy central square. The bus rides through Sweden and Norway were stunning! I would maybe not opt for as many optional experiences-- it got a bit tiring-- On the positive side, on this tour, you definitely see everything! For the most part, all the meals were tasty-- it was nice to have rooms/tables reserved for the group. Our guide Amanda was wonderful! She set the tone; our whole group was harmonious, an absolutely lovely person and so fun and knowledgeable. Our driver Thomas was amazing! I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see as much of Scandinavia in a limited amount of time-- pace was brisk yet tour was very comprehensive.
There are so many optional experiences so be prepared to pay close to $500 per person if you want to participate. The guided tours are minimal
Overall the tour was good. However Trafaglar needs to work on the excursions, do we really need to go to an incinerator that had a ski lift? A drive by would have been enough
Too much time in the bus. 2 days if too much! City guides were excellent, but nothing was learned on the bus. History, industry, cost of living, something could have been talked about on the bus. Instead we watch a few videos that were sometimes quite offensive!
We had a wonderful trip. The tour director and bus driver did outstanding! We have traveled with Trafalgar several times and likely will in the future. We often do the optional side trips. This trip we went with my parents and the one concern we have is that it appears that if you don't buy the optional trips, there is less and less to do. You may be in a city without anything planned the entire day. The emphasis seems to be on the optional experiences. If a traveler doesn't buy any of them they shouldn't be stuck at the hotel for the day. Thanks
Inadequate tours included, so one has to sign up and pay for optional tours which should be essential to the whole tour. The descriptions of the tours included seem full, but in reality, are not. They are mostly bus city tours lasting less than 2 hours. And since you're already in the country, of course you want to see more. That's when you feel the pressure and need to go for the offered optional tours and pay for the lunch and dinner that are not covered. As a couple, we had to spend over $2,000 more so we could feel that we saw the satisfying views and parts of the country we visited. Trafalgar should have had a warning about those surprising additional costs. We've gone on a Gate 1 tour of Spain and Portugal, and in comparison. that gave us full and satisfying days of touring that made us feel we got our money's worth. The Scandinavian Tour from Trafalgar, not so much. Also, after the tour, we added a two-night stay in Bergen, Norway, on our own since the Oslo "fjord tour" was only boat ride around the marina. Bergen's fjords, mountains, waterfalls, and charming city was the best part of our trip!
Absolutely amazing trip! Plenty of time in each city to see it, and the optionals added to the experience. It would have been nice to know before the trip that we would have to take a small bag onto the overnight ferry, so we could pack an extra one. It also would be helpful to not count the last day as a day of the trip when really it was just shuttles to the airport. It would have changed our return dates if we had known that we weren’t doing anything with the tour group that last date.
It was fantastic. Good amount of time in each place
The included tour itinerary was minimal and essentially forced purchased of "optional" excursions, some of which were poor values.
We loved the balance of planned activities, optional excursions and free time.
Great trip. Trafalgar guide, went above and beyond to make the trip so enjoyable.
- at least 2 nights in each stop - enough free time built-in to explore on our own - hit the highlights in each capitol city - excellent hotels - not too much time spent on the bus with varied modes of transportation- ferries, cruise ship
We did all the optional experiences and still had plenty of time to explore the capital cities on our own.
Driver and guide excellent. Way too many additionally charged excursions. We had been on previous trafalgar tour and do not remember that many additional side trips that cost. I think we will look at other tour providers in the future.
Our guide was so amazing. He took care of us so well, informed us perfectly. Our driver was so professional. The local guides gave us so much interesting information. in Stockholm was our favourite, full of stories and humour. Our chosen Optional experiences felt so curated, full of extra experiences. We went to Estonia on the last day as our final Optional tour - wow!!
Fantastic trip with a very thoughtful, kind, knowledgeable leader
Excellent fast-paced tour with terrific Tour director and excellent bus driver who worked remarkably well. Saw and learned plenty....a good intro making you want to return to explore more in-depth
It was interesting to see the capitals. I especially enjoyed seeing the Vasa and the optional trip to Tallinn.
It was very good trip with lots of information.
Many of the optional excursions were disappointing and not worth the time or cost (such as Norway in a nutshell and the architecture home). On my previous tours I did all the optionals but not this time. I did enjoy the extra free time in Oslo I had to skippingthe excursion. The trip to Estonia was great. The overnight ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki was a fun experience.
The itinerary and whole trip just couldn’t have been better!
I met wonderful people and saw fabulous country. The tour directors in each country seem extremely knowledgeable..
Couldn't have asked for a better experience with and as our guide and driver. This tour is an affordable way to experience countless highlights. Though it's a "big bus tour", we never felt crowded or rushed. Rather, we were in awe of the many very personal experiences that made us feel like VIPs at every step. We are eager to go on our next Trafalgar trip!
Plenty of time at each destination
This was a fantastic introduction to Scandinavia and the Nordic countries. There were a lot of options for additional activities or spending time discovering the cities on your own. The local specialists were very knowledgeable and amazing representatives for their regions. Our tour director was so fun and engaging. Not only did he have a lot of information about each country we were visiting, but also many fun stories and videos to share along the way. Our driver did an amazing job on some very difficult roads and I was very happy to be a passenger.
The countries were all beautiful. Weather perfect. Hotels very good. Tour director - Michael and bus driver Christoph (?) were excellent. Kept us busy every day and no time for wondering what to do!!! People on the bus - 50 of us - were all very pleasant. Anyway, the cities were very clean .
First of all, our Travel Director, driver and local specialists were excellent! Overall, traveling with Trafalgar worked for what we needed, but it did feel pretty rushed. The two really long bus days — one from Copenhagen to Oslo and the other from Oslo to Stockholm — were a surprise and honestly just too much time on a bus, even with a couple of quick stops to stretch. The hotels were fine for the most part, but the one in Stockholm really missed the mark. The shower setup was a pain, and the sink was tiny — not the most comfortable stay. We were also a bit thrown off by how many optional tours there were, especially since a few, like the Oslo Opera House, were originally listed as part of the main itinerary. Having 52 people getting on and off the bus made things a bit chaotic at times, though the group was generally nice. All in all, we’re glad we went, but we’ve figured out that bus tours just aren’t really our thing.
Absolutely one of the best Trafalgar trips I've ever been on. The sites were beautiful, the food was delicious, and the history was rich and diverse. Lasse was an amazing tour director, I can't recommend him highly enough!
Very good, would definitely recommend
It was an outstanding trip the tour guide was phenomenal showed us all kinds of interesting things places and also answer any questions you had
