Denmark City sightseeing Trips
Denmark perfectly encapsulates the style, design and hygge (coziness) of Scandinavia. Its modern cities are hubs of culture, art and delicious local cuisine. On a city sightseeing Trip to Denmark, you can visit Copenhagen to immerse yourself in the magical charm of Tivoli Gardens or stroll along the picturesque Nyhavn Harbour. While in Copenhagen, do not miss the iconic Little Mermaid statue, an enduring symbol of the city's fairy tale allure. Venture outside the capital to the city of Aarhus, famed for ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, Den Gamle By (the Old Town), and the Moesgaard Museum. Also check out the city of Odense, the birthplace of Danish master of literary fairy tale, Hans Christian Andersen, where you will find attractions such as the Funen Village, Brandts Museum of Photographic Art, Danish Railway Museum, and, of course, Hans Christian Andersen's House. Consider pairing your city sightseeing tour to Denmark with an art and architecture tour to marvel at the historical buildings tucked neatly in every corner of the country. Honest insights from past guests on our City sightseeing Denmark tours
Inga and Scaba are a great team. We had more or less plain sailing on this trip. Inga was a brilliant story teller as well as being a font of so much information, she told many a funny tale and sang so beautifully in Norwegian and English. Scaba was really kind to the less physically able people and supported them to get on and off the coach. (Some other tour members helped out too). There was just the right amount of free time and organised optionals. The scenery, history and the good (for the non vegetarians) was fabulous. The food was good for us vegetarians especially the OUTRAGEOUSLY AMAZING cinnamon buns, which I couldn't get enough of.
The itinerary was a busy one, but I like that. I want to see as much as I can in the limited time I am somewhere that I'll probably never visit again. The tour director's knowledge and historical information is incalculable.
This tour more than met our expectations. It has 9 days in the midnight sun above the Arctic Circle. There is a visit to the most northern point in Europe to see the sun at midnight just above the Barrow Sea. There are visits to Sami culture sights with lovely hospitality and up-close encounters with their reindeer. The visit with Santa Claus in his “home” was an enjoyable “cut above” usual expectations. We liked the many days in which to take in the natural beauty of the wilderness, lakes and fjords. We did nearly all the optional activities and still had time to rest on the coach. In the 4 capitol cities the included a number of amazing beautiful locations as well as interesting history. A highlight for me was seeing the raft and reed boat that Thor Heyerdahl sailed in. Our delightful tour guide was a native Swede full of knowledge, enthusiasm, friendliness and very attentive to individual needs. Our driver was very adept at handling both challenging mountain roads and city traffic. This was a very satisfying trip.
I loved the entire itinerary. Geiranger and the path of the Trolls was an out of this world experience. I learned so much. Each day was filled with wonderment.
Excellent scenery. Extremely well organized tour director. Very good experience of Scandinavian culture. Covered a lot territory so a few days were long hauls on the bus. Enjoyed train & ferry rides through the fiords.
The Norway fjords and the mountain drives and all the waterfalls were magnificent. Great to have lodging a couple nights on a fjord. The optional experience Treasures of Lillehammer is where the issue lies. We paid extra for this and it was a Make Travel Matter experience we felt shortchanged on. When we arrived in Lillehammer we were given 45 minutes of free time. Little did we know this affected our open air museum of Maihaugen time. Because the museum closes at 5 we weren’t given the time to explore the inside exhibits We should have been given more time for the museum instead of the free time for those doing the optional experience or the day planned better so we wouldn’t have the time crunch we had.. That should have happened knowing the museum closing time. I felt shortchanged since this was an extra paid experience. Overall I enjoyed our whole trip and the experiences. I particularly enjoyed the tour director. She was great, knowledgeable, gave everybody her attention and troubleshooted well where needed. Wish we had her for all our tours. The bus driver was amazing. Please get our lodging closer to city center. At times far away, such as Copenhagen, to make items of interest near by. Al when presenting our personal data for the tour when purchasing Trafalgar asked if we would be celebrating any special occasion. I indicated our 45th wedding anniversary at that time. Nothing about the anniversary mentioned to the group on the tour recognized this even though birthdays recognized. The tour director was made aware of our anniversary a couple times during the tour. Also, the decision was made by Trafalgar, I guess, that people that have toured multiples got no additional recognition or gifts or privileges more than the first timers. I believe it’s things like this recognition is what makes Trafalgar more special than others. Muti travelers with Trafalgar should get recognition beyond 1st timers. Please reinstitute this practice.
