Copenhagen is home to as many as 1 million friendly Danes. While the city is large enough to have several districts with distinguished personalities, it’s still small enough to create a community feel. A city rich in history that dates back to the Norse explorers, Copenhagen also has an innovative edge that encompasses architecture, cuisine and art.

We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The trip on the fjords was breathtaking. They cover so many little unique spots of interest. Really enjoyed having the hotel accommodations in the center of the city. This allowed you to explore more easily on your own. All meals provided were great!

This was a lovely tour. We were on the move and going throughout the day, and each day, and saw the most amazing sights and ate the most incredible foods! Highly recommend this tour, and especially if you get as your guide!!❤️ Her shoes, yall!!!! 😍

Comprehensive, interesting series of locations visited. Moderate amount of daily walking required. Tight complete schedule with limited time for relaxation (but optional participation allows for freedom of choice). Enjoyed the International list of participants. Various modes of daily travel (bus, train rides, boat trips, & “old town” walking, subways, aerial trams, observation points) a definite plus.

This trip was jam-packed with fun and interesting experiences! The driver and tour director were excellent guides in this exciting, fast-paced indulgence into the capitals of Scandinavia. Shout out to the local hosts that were very knowledgeable in their areas of expertise. A+ to Trafalgar for including an overnight cruise into Helsinki, many optional excursions and an outstanding Be My Guest luncheon. Well done!

We enjoyed tour much, itinerary was good, information provided throughout was complete and accurate. We did not enjoy ferry to Helsinski. Super expensive and bad food choices. Is there any other route to get to Helsinski?

Perfect solution for first-time travellers to Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway, Sweden) who have limited time to plan/book the trip like ourselves. The itinerary is quite comprehensive of the must-see items, especially if you include all the optional items (which you’ll choose and pay during the tour). We skipped some of the optional items to do our own thing, which is a great flexibilty provided by the tour! This allowed us to visit attractions that the tour only drove-by e.g. swam in the canal of Copenhagen and spent half a day in the Abba Museum

Copenhagen - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Travel Highlights

  • Ride a 100 year old roller coaster in Tivoli Gardens and watch the traditional Saturday evening fireworks display or see a free rock concert on a Friday evening during summer.
  • Food lovers need to head to the Torvehallerne KBH food market. A delight for the senses, you can pick up everything from tart berries to smoky cured meats and some sellers even prepare simple yet delicious meals for a great price.
  • The Statens Museum for Kunst is the perfect representation for Copenhagen’s mix of old and new. The National Gallery is comprised of two buildings: a 19th century palace and a clean, compact ode to minimalism. See works by Rubens, Breughel and Rembrandt.
  • Spend a sunny afternoon wandering down Nyhavn canal. The canal was a frequented by none other than Hans Christian Andersen who lived in a number of properties along the water and wrote some of his well-known works there.
  • For a thorough lesson in Danish history, visit the National Museum of Denmark. It contains artefacts dating from 3,000 years ago to modern day, you’ll leave with a better understanding of what makes Copenhagen and Denmark so unique.

Travel Tips

  • Accommodation prices in Copenhagen drop significantly during winter, making it a great winter weekend getaway.
  • If you plan to pack a lot into a short amount of time, get a Copenhagen Card. It gives you free entry to many attractions and discounts at shops and restaurants.
  • Copenhagen street food or lunch specials are a great way to eat cheap while you’re out and about.
  • Copenhagen is best explored via walking. Save money on public transport and get to know the city on an intimate level by strolling through the streets.
