Pick up from your hotel and transferred to Istanbul Airport for your flight to Cappadocia. Upon arrival in Cappadocia, we set out on our full-day tour.
We start with Goreme Open Air Museum, which consists of many rock-cut churches from the second half of 9 AD with beautiful frescoes decorating the walls. Next, we will visit Devrent Valley, for no trip to Cappadocia is complete without visiting this place, which is famous for its quirky animal shaped rocks. It looks like a sculpture zoo made by nature. There is even a rock pillar which looks like the Virgin Mary, holding Jesus Christ.
We then head to Pasabag Valley, which means:the Pacha's vineyard. This site is also called Monks Valley because the hermitage of Simeon monks was here. A chapel dedicated to St. Simeon (Simon), and a hermit's shelter is built into one of the fairy chimneys with three heads. The valley contains some of the most striking fairy chimneys in Cappadocia with twin and even triple rock caps.
After the tour of Pasabag Valley, we will head to the town of Avanos, where we will enjoy typical Turkish lunch and learn about pottery and ceramic art with local artisans.
After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel at around 17:00.
Overnight in Cappadocia.
You will be picked up at your hotel for another full day tour of Cappadocia. Today, we start with Cavusin village, which is surrounded by a valley called the Red Valley. The village is known for its unique houses and churches cut into massive rock formations.
After the village tour, we will explore Rose and Red valleys. Rose Valley is an incredibly unique area of Cappadocia with sharp ridges, tinted with pink sandstone. This pink becomes more and more evident throughout the day, peaking at sunset when the sun glows directly onto the Rose Valley giving it that fine shade of pink.
Next, we will visit Pigeon Valley, which earned its name from the countless man made dovecotes (Pigeon Houses) into soft volcanic tuff. The valley is one of the best spots for walking in the marvelous Cappadocia region.
We will then head to Ozkonak Underground City, once a place of refuge for 15,000 Christians. These settlements were of enormous value to the development of christianity as they provided shelter and place of worship to the persecuted Christians. They were in use until the end of 7 AD. Witness the ancient bedrooms, church, meeting hall and food storage rooms in this eight-storey city connected by 30 km-long corridors and passageways.
After the tour, transfer to airport to take a flight back to Istanbul.
The tour ends upon arrival.
