Alpine Lakes of Slovenia

An excellent tour leader that made problems go away for those on the tour. An itinerary that meant we could be confident that we saw highlights of this part of Slovenia without any effort having to be made by ourselves meaning it was a proper holiday with like minded people in a small group (8 people)

This trip was a great introduction to Slovenia with so many highlights, from the wonderful historic buildings of Ljubljana to the tranquil lakes and the beautiful coastal towns. Good range of included and optional activities. Particular highlights were the boat trip on the pletna (gondola) out to Bled island, the mountain and lakeside walks at Lake Bohinj, and the day trip to the delightful coastal town of Piran, which was particularly impressive arriving by boat from Izola (worth getting up early to catch the 9am boat). Would recommend spending an extra day or two in Ljubljana as there is plenty to see there. The transport was a good mix of local buses and trains and private buses, and all ran smoothly. In most cases the bus arrival/departure points were a few minutes' walk from the hotels, so don't overload yourself with luggage.

Slovenia is a beautiful country that did not disappoint, from its vibrant capital city Ljubljana to the stunning Alpine region and lake Bohinj. Really enjoyed the three days here, very relaxing. Lovely hotel in Isola by the sea. Nice mix.

Slovenia is a relatively-unknown jewel of Central Europe and this trip is effectively an excellent “highlights” tour, covering the beautiful capital city, the stunning Alpine region and the relaxing Adriatic coast. Lake Bohinj was probably the top spot and the walk up to the Savica waterfall. For any birdwatchers, make sure to visit the Skocjanski Zatok nature reserve in Koper, which is a 20-minute taxi ride from Izola (I did that on the free day in Izola - Friday - and also booked a guided tour, in advance, by emailing ). There are both freshwater reedbeds and brackish, tidal mud-flats. Highlights - a Little Bittern plus nesting Black-winged Stilts and Pygmy Cormorants !

A really well thought out itinerary that takes in lakes, waterfalls and the coast. Lake Bohinj for me was the standout part of the trip, the walks and kayaking there were amazing.

The itinerary was good, but more time for a hike on top of Mount Vogel would make it better.

A lovely trip to some beautiful places, and a well thought-out itinerary. On our tour the optional walk in the Triglav National Park, and the trip to Piran were well worth doing.

A very varied trip combining the lakes and mountains of the Julian Alps, the Slovenian coastal area and the capital, Ljubljana. We enjoyed the different activities on offer - hiking, sightseeing, swimming. Slovenia is a beautiful country and this tour incorporated the very best of it.

Very good itinerary, hotels and leader. Thoroughly to be recommended. Every day was great!

Excellent trip. Itinerary was well thought out with a lot of variety without too many changes of accommodation. Our tour guide, Clare, was exceptional, putting lots of thought and care into every day including the optional days. Waiting for a over an hour for a local bus at Lake Bled in the cold and wet was the only bit that I'd criticise. Surely it must be worth Explore keeping the original private bus for an extra 4 hours to avoid giving such a bad impression. Slovenia is such a beautiful country. Highly recommend going.

Well thought out and paced tour. Only criticism transport from Lake Bled to Lake Bohinj. Local bus did not turn up on time leading to standing in the cold and rain for over an hour. Would have been better if bus from Ljubljana had waited for the 4 hours we were there. Spoilt the day!

Really enjoyable tour, beautiful scenery and interesting places to visit. Pace was relaxed with good quality hotels. Tour leader went the extra mile to make sure evwrtything went smoothly.
