Slovenia 8-Day Tours and Trips

Very helpful enthusiastic leader who offered lots of alternatives that included her leadership on parts of the holiday that had nothing officially organised. This trip was a great introduction to Slovenia with so many highlights, from the wonderful historic buildings of Ljubljana to the tranquil lakes and the beautiful coastal towns. Good range of included and optional activities. Particular highlights were the boat trip on the pletna (gondola) out to Bled island, the mountain and lakeside walks at Lake Bohinj, and the day trip to the delightful coastal town of Piran, which was particularly impressive arriving by boat from Izola (worth getting up early to catch the 9am boat). Would recommend spending an extra day or two in Ljubljana as there is plenty to see there. The transport was a good mix of local buses and trains and private buses, and all ran smoothly. In most cases the bus arrival/departure points were a few minutes' walk from the hotels, so don't overload yourself with luggage.

This trip was exactly what I needed. After years of family holidays and work trips, doing something like this — just me, my wife, a car, and no daily schedule, felt like a throwback to how we used to travel. The best part? We weren’t herded around or stuck waiting for a big group. We just got in the car and drove. Some days we were super active, other days we just wandered and sat in cafes. Croatia’s charm is obvious, but Slovenia really caught us off guard. The nature is pristine, the towns feel like no less than a fairytale, and even the touristy places don’t feel overwhelming. Also, it’s worth saying the roads were great, parking wasn’t a nightmare, and the car rental process was straightforward. That stuff matters when you’re not 25 anymore. If you want a bit of culture, nature, good food, and a proper break from the usual routine this is your tour. We’re already talking about doing another self-drive next year. Portugal, maybe?

This is a fantastic trip in a beautiful country. Each day had a fun activity, but also plenty of time to stop and enjoy a coffee with the group. Our CEO made this a 10/10 - he is so knowledgeable, energetic and full of great suggestions!

Loved the airy, uncrowded mountain walks with profuse meadow flowers and views of rocky pinnacles. The two lakes were also incredibly picturesque and not spoilt. We enjoyed the family-run accommodation, food and wine as well. The day in Ljubljana was enjoyable (despite pouring rain) but I personally enjoyed the small town with its church, old houses, bee-keeping museum, wine merchant and ice cream parlour just as much.

Will definitely travel with them again. Great informed itinerary visiting cool destinations we wouldn’t have thought of; accommodation clean, well run, not too big and particularly well located; delightful transport and guides when used.
