Exploring interesting towns brimming with character and history
Delighting in the fine cuisine and hospitality of your accommodation providers
Cycle through Slovenia’s alpine beauty and beyond on the "Cycle Slovenia and the Parenzana" tour, an 8-day moderate-activity journey crafted for experienced and senior travelers. Starting and ending in Ljubljana, this bicycle tour takes you from the peaks of the Julian Alps to the sunlit shores of Croatia, following the historic Parenzana Rail Trail through Trieste and Motovun.
You’ll ride past shimmering lakes, descend through limestone caves, and swap your bike for a paddle on the vivid Soca River. The journey continues past olive groves and vineyards, ending in the ancient Roman town of Porec on the Adriatic coast.
With self-guided flexibility, included accommodation, transport, and meals, this tour’s unique selling point is its cross-border adventure—showcasing the best of Slovenia, Italy, and Croatia for those who love to explore by bike.
Overall this trip was fantastic. Cycling is such a great way to experience these countries. Stunning scenery through Slovenia, the road surface and bike paths were in excellent condition. Accommodation great; excellent breakfast choices. My wife chose to ride an E-Bike; really good quality ’Specialised’ step through bike.I was provided a ‘hybrid’ bike. Speaking as an experienced MTB, Road, Gravel and bike path cyclist, the section of the Parenzana from the north of Croatia to Porec, is best suited to a Mountain Bike. If I was to ride this section again I wouldn’t settle for anything less than a Dual Suspension E-MTB, with 2.4” - 2.6” tyre diameter or bigger. If you don’t have this, be prepared for a bumpy ride. On the last day of riding I woke to a flat tyre. Unfortunately the spare tube provided had the wrong sized valve. Luckily the place we stayed at had a repair kit and I patched the tube. But after 10km on the rough gravel surface it failed. The company promptly organised transport and we were picked up & taken to Porec to the closest bike repair shop. Communication with the company was always excellent, prompt responses & helpful. We would highly recommend this cycling trip with mountain bikes.
Wonderfully organized - the bikes were of excellent quality, communications along the trail were excellent, and the hotels fantastic.
