The trip was absolutely great, if you want to drink a bit less, spend more time actively I definitely recommend this trip. However be advised: -When Contiki says people on this trip are from all around the world they mean most people are from Australia and some from New Zealand, UK and US. So if English is not your first language you will struggle a bit. But even with my more or less fluent English I had an amazing time and that's the biggest praise I can give. - Do the whole Active Alps trip, only the Austrian or the Swiss Alps trip is way too short to really get to know the people you are travelling with and it will rob you from half of the experience. (Contiki might not offer this trip as a modular one next year, so this might be an already out dated comment. )
The trip was an awesome adventure. Our Contiki guide was extremely fun and personable. He made the trip an absolute blast, and if I were to do another Contiki trip, I would hope to have him again! Shoutout <3 The only feedback I have is that the canyon swing is a bit too expensive for what it is, although I understand that may not be something Contiki can control. Also, if you opt to do the canyon swing, you have less time to enjoy the mountain and its attractions. I did not do the canyon swing, and so I was able to explore all the mountain had to offer, toboggan on top of the mountain without rush, and do my own hike from one train station down to another, which was one of my trip highlights even though it was not part of the itinerary. Thanks for an amazing time!
Even though the weather wasn't ideal, this trip was spectacular. The hikes were unbelievably beautiful, and the people were just amazing. Shoutout to , our tour manager, who made everything so much better.
I recently returned from the Active Alps Contiki trip and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The scenery was nothing short of breathtaking—endless dreamy views everywhere you looked. The guided hike was a highlight for me, both enjoyable and well-organized. It was also a huge relief not to have to plan a hiking route myself. Everything was arranged, which let me fully enjoy the experience without the usual stress of logistics. The itinerary was a great balance of activity and downtime, and the group atmosphere was fun and supportive. It’s the perfect choice for solo travelers or anyone looking to explore the Alps in an active but accessible way. However, there were a couple of downsides that are worth mentioning. The included dinners were disappointing—food quality was low, and surprisingly, Contiki seems to be aware of this issue yet hasn’t taken steps to improve it. For a trip of this caliber, better meals should be a given. Also, there was a lack of clarity around the optional excursion to Jungfrau on the second day. At the time of booking, it wasn’t made clear that this wasn’t included in the overall cost. The £175 fee came as a surprise, especially when trying to stick to a budget. While Contiki has since updated their website to reflect this, it was disappointing that the oversight impacted my planning. Overall, I’d still highly recommend the trip for its stunning natural beauty and ease of travel. Just be prepared for a few unexpected costs and manage expectations around the food.
Literally a dream!
