Over four days, you’ll trek through breathtaking volcanic landscapes, forests, and remote villages, all under the guidance of certified mountain experts. The journey begins with a transfer to Ranupani Village for a night in a local homestay, immersing you in the region’s culture before the ascent begins.
Day two leads you past pristine lakes and through lush jungle to Kalimati, where the scenery grows ever more dramatic. The highlight comes on the third day, when an early-morning trek positions you atop Semeru’s peak just as the sun rises, revealing a panorama few will ever witness. Afterward, you’ll descend for a well-earned lakeside lunch and rest. The trip concludes with a gentle walk and a final meal in a welcoming homestay. This trekking tour is designed for adventurous young adults and experienced travelers seeking a memorable physical and natural challenge. day 1 - Arrival and drive to Ranupani
Upon your arrival at Juanda International Airport of Surabaya, our staff will pick you up. Then transfer to Tumpang village, where you will have a short medical checkup.
Then we continue by 4WD jeep to Ranupani Village (2.200 asl), the road is passing via Gubuk Klakah and Ngadas villages, it will take around 2.5 to 3 hours to drive and 28 km from Tumpang. We arrive at the village in the afternoon and check in to the local homestay.
day 2 - Ranupani – Ranukumbolo – Kalimati
After breakfast at the homestay, we start trekking to Ranukumbolo (2400 m) by crossing the hills track and tropical forest, it will take about 4-5 hours. Have lunch by the lake and at the same time enjoy the beautiful scenery.
After lunch, we trek to Kalimati (2700 m) about 2.5 – 3.5 hours through Oro-Oro Ombo Savannah, Cemoro Kandang Pine Forest, and Jambangan Forest.
On arrival at Kalimati Campsite, our team will prepare dinner, and then you can rest.
day 3 - Kalimati – Summit Semeru Peak – Ranu Kumbolo
At midnight after having a snack, we will start climbing to the summit of Semeru Mountain (3676 m) which takes about 4-6 hours. We will have a spectacular sunrise view if the weather is good and the sky is clear. You can rest at the top, taking pictures and having hot tea.
After some rest, we will go down to Kalimati campsite for brunch, then continue back to Ranu Kumbolo lake. When we arrive, we will have lunch. Then you can rest or if you choose to explore around the lake, the guide will accompany you.
day 4 - Ranu Kumbolo - Ranupane - Surabaya
In the morning after breakfast, we will hike about 4 hours backs to Ranupane Village for 4 hours, having lunch in the homestay. Then you will directly transfer back to Surabaya, through Tumpang and Malang.
Please take the night flight (after 8 pm) if you plan to take a flight from Surabaya.
