day 1 - Day 1: Bangkok (Thailand)

Welcome to Thailand, the Land of Smiles!

Our first day begins with a taste of Thai cuisine through a welcome dinner (own account) after group meeting to go through your 12 days trip itinerary, questions and answers and it is a good opportunity to introduce you to your travel companions. Group meeting is at 6:30 pm at the hotel lobby, so please looking for the leader welcome letter in the hotel lobby or ask hotel reception for it.

You may want to schedule your arrival in Bangkok earlier. Depending on what you feel up to on your free time, get a feel of what Bangkok is all about by heading out to the gleaming Grand Palace and the Emerald Buddha, experience old Bangkok by a long tail boat, stimulate your taste buds with street food or simply chill it out with a Thai massage.

day 2 - Day 2: Bangkok to Siem Reap

You’ll start with a public minivan/bus trip from Bangkok to Siem Reap for about 10 hours. You will exit Thailand at Aranyaprathet and cross Cambodia at Poipet, with your guide who will assist you with border procedures. After entering Poipet, we’ll continue the trip for around 150 km more to Siem Reap. Check in at your accommodation and stay overnight at Siem Reap.

Prepare to be amazed on a full day tour to the colossal Angkor complex, one of the best preserved archaeological sites in Southeast Asia. With your guide, visit the world-famous Angkor Wat, marvel at the Bayon temple or the Temple of Smiling Faces and be enchanted with Ta Prohm’s ruins taken over by the jungle trees.

day 5 - Day 5: Kompong Cham

This morning, you will travel by public bus (private for group of 6 pax and up) to the quiet and charming town of Kompong Cham for about 5 hours. Get around with a bike or rent a motorcycle with driver. Get a feel of the “real” Cambodia by just hanging out to meet locals or cruise the countryside along farms and villages. You can also explore the rural island of Koh Paen, which can be crossed through an amazingly built bamboo bridge during dry season and a ferry in monsoon season. Other options include a visit to the twin mountain temples of Phnom Pros and Phnom Srei.

Today you will continue to Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh by public bus (about 3 hours), private bus for group of 6 pax up. This bustling city located at the convergence of Mekong River and Tonle Sap is the place to see French colonial mansions in Cambodia. Here, you have the option to visit the Choeng Ek Memorial, the site of the Killing Fields during the Khmer Rouge regime; the magnificent Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda; the Wat Phnom Temple dedicated to Vishnu and Shiva; the National Museum with its large Khmer art and historical collection; or shop at the art-deco Psar Thmei or Central Market.

day 7 - Day 7: Chambok Homestay

On this day, you will travel west by private bus/mini van (about 3 hours) to Kampong Speu and Chambok eco-village. At Chambok, you can enjoy nature adventure through a hike to the waterfalls and exploration of bat caves. You will spend the night with a local family in a homestay and immerse yourself in the rural lifestyle. Sample Khmer cuisine at dinner while watching locals perform traditional dance.

Notes: Facilities on this homestay are basic and multi-share. Mattresses, bedding and mosquito nets are provided.

day 8 - Day 8: Sihanouk Ville

Head towards the coastal city of Sihanouk Ville (about 4 hours) in a private bus. Enjoy Cambodia’s premier beaches, the seascapes and take a dip in the beach if you’re up for it.

day 9 - Day 9: Sihanouk Ville

You will have your free time today for a tropical beach getaway. You can go boating to nearby islands, snorkel, scuba dive, enjoy fresh seafood, barbecue and cold drinks. Alternatively, you can visit Ream National Park, 18 km from Sihanoukville downtown, where you can take boat trips through mangroves, walking tours of the mountain, safari tour to see exotic animals and bird species, and see waterfalls.

day 11 - Day 11: Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam)

Depart Phnom Penh for Ho Chi Minh City on a local bus (about 7 hours). You will exit Cambodia at Bavet and enter Vietnam border at Moc Bai, with your guide to assist you with border procedures. Take a glimpse of the Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon’s vibrant mix of old and new. Admire the well-preserved French colonial structures as well as the modern skyscrapers. Options include visits to historical landmarks such as the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, War Remnants Museum and the Saigon Post Office. You can also explore Ben Thanh market and enjoy local street food at the lively Pha Ngu Lau Street. Don’t forget to complete your Saigon experience with a baguette and a sip of Vietnamese coffee.
