There are more than one colorful mountains around Cusco. Although not as well known as Vinicunca, Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain is an incredible natural landmark, a mountain splashed with stripes of different colors just like its more famous sibling. Book with us and get the chance to visit this less crowded but equally beautiful alternative to Vinicunca.
We will pick you up from your accommodation in Peru early in the morning and drive you south of Cusco. Travel for approximately two hours until you reach Cusipata, where you will have your breakfast. Your journey continues through the Cusco-Puno Road to Combapata, where we will take a detour along the left bank of the Salka River (it is a dirt road from this point on). Enjoy beautiful high Andean landscapes as the journey continues. You might even spot herds of alpaca and llamas if you are lucky. Reach Palccoyo after one more hour on the road.
The view of a colorful mountain strikes you right at the parking lot. You have ten minutes to get ready before we start walking. It takes a short, 40-minute hike to reach the main viewpoint from where you can see three colorful mountains as well as a valley swathed in red. Looming in the background is the mighty Ausangate Mountain.
You also have the option to take a short, 15-minute walk to the nearby stone forest from where the views are even more impressive.
Spend sometime admiring the beauty of the mountains before it is time to return. Take the same route back to Cusipata, where a delicious buffet lunch will be provided. Continue your journey to Cusco with the aim to reach the city by 6:00 pm. We will drop you off at your hotel on arrival in the city.
Get ready to enjoy a memorable trip with your family. Start your journey with a sightseeing tour of Buenos Aires and learn more about the history of this city. Located in Argentina's Río Negro province, Bariloche, another highlight of this trip, is a city surrounded by thousand-year-old forests, mountains covered in snow and crystal clear lakes.
Mendoza, on the other hand, is a famous wine region in Argentina. A particularly famous specialty of the region is the tasty red Malbec. Also included in the itinerary are a variety of activities ranging from glacier walk to kayaking and hiking through forests.
