The trip was very well planned and executed. We really enjoyed hotels that the local travel specialist chose for us. The driver was very knowledgeable, kind and professional, we always felt safe with him. Highlights were numerous, but Sahara probably stands out as an exceptional experience.
Located between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, Morocco is as much a delight for travelers interested in history and culture as it is for those who want to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy outdoor activities. Be it the cities that transport visitors to centuries back in time or the beauty of Saharan dunes and rugged Atlas Mountains, Morocco has something to offer to every traveler.
This 11-day, active, small-group tour is the ultimate introduction to Morocco's breathtaking vistas and ancient cities. Start your journey from Casablanca with a drive through wide farming plains to Rabat. Explore Chefchaouen during a walking tour with a local guide before heading for the ancient city of Fez.
Put on your walking shoes and head for the Atlas Mountains from Fez. Travel through copses of evergreen pine, cedar and poplar trees. You might even encounter nomadic Berber people along the way. The mountains eventually give way to the vast expanse of the Sahara Desert. Try climbing the massive Merzouga dunes, some of which are around 250 m high.
Spend a night camping in the desert under the starry African sky. Next on the itinerary is a hiking trip in the valley of Todra, known for its series of river canyons carved out of limestone. Leave the wilderness behind and head back to civilization after that. Visit the cities of Marrakesh and Essaouira and see their highlights before the trip comes to an end in Casablanca, the final destination of your itinerary.
Travel in a small group lead by knowledgeable and experienced local tour guides throughout this tour. Please scroll down to see the itinerary.
Are you hungry for an adventure of a lifetime? If yes, then we have the perfect trip for you. Radically different from our normal tours, this eight-day, private trip will take you to the deserts and canyons of Morocco, where you will traverse a barren landscape composed of dunes, rugged hills, dry riverbeds and desert oases while spending nights in camps far away from civilization.
Start the journey from Marrakech and cover the Black Desert followed by the dunes of Ramlia and Ouzina. Explore the famous dunes of Merzouga in an off-road vehicle and travel past the Dades and Tinghir valleys. Your adventure comes to an end in Marrakech after you have visited the Todra canyons.
Accompanying you during this trip will be an experienced tour guide. Camels will be available in certain locations to ensure that you can continue the trip when you are tired walking. Items needed for camping, like food, sleeping bags, and tents, will be carried along and you will use local guesthouses for your evening shower. There is also an option to stay in hotels at some destinations.
Our tour with Anouar was fantastic! He was an amazing guide and shared so much about the Moroccan culture, traditions and people throughout our travels. Although the driving time was quite long, we were able to view so much of the countryside and stop to take pictures whenever we wanted. The scheduled tour stops were beautiful and Anouar would tell us where to get the best pictures or give us some background on its history. The riad and desert camp were also fabulous - very clean, well decorated and both had delicious meals.
This is an ideal trip if you would like to climb the highest peak in North Africa and if you love a challenging week of trekking!
Lead and supervised by a qualified mountain guide from the region, the trip starts from Marrakesch and includes an acclimatization day in the Atlas Mountains after arrival. Stay in a local house and enjoy a local homemade dinner. Then we make our ascent of Toubkal, which is not technical but requires crampons and ice-axes to reach the top. Get the best views over the whole Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert. There is also an option to climb another lower peak, which you can decide on and discuss with your guide.
The trip includes accommodation in Marrakech on the first and last nights as well as a guided tour to discover the famous monuments, the souk of the red city and more. Please see the whats included sections and detailed itinerary for more information.
Well organized trekking tour, excellent value for money! Plenty of delicious food, knowledgeable and attending guide. Accommodations were also ok. Requires good physical condition. Tipping is expected basically everywhere so remember to add that on your travel budget.

The earthy scent of saffron, the kaleidoscope of colourful carpets, mountains, mosques, mayhem - this is Morocco. Let us guide you through the chaos of the medinas, bustling squares and sprawling palaces, getting you under the skin in ways you just couldn't manage alone. This is a pretty full on trip with a lot of travel made comfortable by regular stops and an excellent driver. Visiting major historical sights, beautiful buildings and crowded lively Souks contrasted sharply with meeting individual families struggling to survive in harsh circumstances. The Todra Gorge trek was strenuous, steep and rugged with no proper path in many places and walking boots would definitely be an advantage. Meeting the Bedouin family living high up all year round was surprising and memorable. Local tour guides were also good. Hotels were much as expected but in Essaouira and Marrakesh were situated a longish walk from the centre which was disappointing. All in all a fascinating insight into a country of huge contrasts.

Highly recommend this trip. A really varied trip showing the best that Morocco has to offer. Marrakech is very manic and a bit 'in your face' but thanks to an excellent tour leader and local guide the group were able to find our way to such hidden gems as the Majorelle Gardens (Yves St Laurent's former gardens) and the 'Secret' Garden. The trip up to the Atlas Mountains and stay in Douar Samra was nothing short of magical, I got to stay in the Tree House while others stayed in the very unusual and individual rooms in the house or annex. Meals were a delight thanks to the marvellous cooking of Rashida the resident cook and the atmospheric use of candles (there is no electricity in the main house) and traditional low level seating and tables. Your luggage is transported the final distance by donkey and there are also ducks and all vegetables are grown in the Douar's vegetable garden. Fabulous views and sunsets and great walking in the mountains. However the gem is absolutely Essaouira. I had never heard of this place before but it is the most delightful and fascinating seaside town. Again great orientation tour from local guide Rashida and plenty of time to enjoy the shopping, sweeping sandy beach, bars, restaurants and busy exciting fishing harbour. Our leader, Abdul, was very informative and accommodating and great fun. Morocco is well worth a visit and I will be back!

Although we experienced an earthquake it was handled very well by our tour guide, Hassain. He made sure we were safe and it didn't affect our trip too much.
