In Fátima, you’ll spend time exploring the religious site, visiting the Chapel of Apparitions to see the stone pillar that marks the spot where Virgin Mary appeared, the Shrine that is twice the size of St Peter's Square in the Vatican, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima and absolving all the religious atmosphere and serenity that this whole location offers! In 1917 a religious event changed the history of this location for ever, when three young shepherds witnessed successive apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima (another name for the Virgin Mary) turning Fátima, into one of the most important landmarks in the Marian worship, drawing pilgrims from all over the world.
At the other end of Fatima’s Shire the Most Holy Trinity Church – Lesser Basilica, from 2007 is an amazing modern piece of architecture, without intermediate supports and with a total capacity of about 8,700 people.

We had a great day in Sintra with our driver Bruno- he was very professional. He timed the site visits perfectly so we were easily able to spend time at the Moorish Castle, Pena Palace, and Quinta da Regaleira in one day, with a break for a delicious lunch in Sintra and a stop to wander in town. He even treated us to our first taste of Ginjinha! Thank you, Bruno for an unforgettable day to a beautiful place!
