If travellers are looking for some winter sunshine in W.Africa in a five * hotel this would not be for them. If, however, one is looking to explore Senegal and/or The Gambia to understand these countries culture, wildlife and societies this trip provides most of what one would wish for. Both countries have similarities in culture and religion but grounded in differing histories they have subtle differences too. Combining both countries in this one trip facilitates understanding of this. Accommodation was varied and only what I have come to expect of Explore! Some was basic but still, I imagine, more luxurious than much of the population whom we encountered.

Absolutely incredible 3-day journey from Marrakech to Fes! Our guide and driver, Hakim, was the absolute BEST—so knowledgeable, friendly, and made every moment special. From exploring the Atlas Mountains and ancient kasbahs to the unforgettable night under the stars in the Sahara, every detail was perfect. Hakim, made sure we were comfortable and shared fascinating stories about the places we visited. Watching the sunrise in the Merzouga dunes and visiting beautiful Berber villages along the way were highlights. Highly recommend this tour and especially Khalil for an authentic Moroccan adventure!

Madagascar is a beautiful country and we were so lucky to see so much wildlife...including lots of endangered lemurs. The CEO and tour group made the entire experience. My only complaint is that it was too short, I could have stayed longer!

Experience breathtaking views of South Africa's wine region, Stellenbosch, from a hot air balloon during this ten-hour, guided tour and taste locally produced Methode Cap Classique (MCC) wines, South Africa's equivalent of French Champagne. This tour starts with a pickup at your hotel in Cape Town form where we will drive you to the balloon launch site in Stellenbosch.
See hills swathed with neat rows of vines and quaint buildings from above as you fly over the area. Toast the landing where ever that may be with a traditional glass of sparkling wine and/or orange juice. Our retrieval vehicle will take you back to the venue for breakfast/brunch. Receive a commemorative certificate which proves that you defied the laws of gravity.
Time to sample some locally produced sizzling bubbles after your feet are safely back on the ground during a visit to the wine estates that you flew over. Without any delay, we head off to the house of JC Le Roux, a leading wine estate dedicated exclusively to creating sparkling wine. It was also the first wine estate in South Africa to undertake this endeavour. Using traditional French technique, this wine estate created South Africa's finest, vintage Methode Cap Classiques.
Our next stop Lanzerac Wine Estate. This wine estate came to existence in 1962 when Isaac Schrijver was granted a piece of land by the then Governor of the Cape, Simon Van Der Stel, and it has since grown into an iconic South African wine estate it is today. Sample their Methode Cap Classique (MCC) before it is time to head home. We will drop you off at your hotel in Cape Town after the tour is over.
This tour provider hits it out of the park on the big wins: safety, logistics, and expertise. Their guides conducted twice daily health checks, measuring blood oxygen to ensure we were acclimating appropriately and they had medication ready to cover any malady. On summit day they carried oxygen as a safety measure that I found necessary after experiencing altitude sickness and the team even provided it to another suffering climber whose guides were not carrying oxygen. Not all guide services have these safety measures!
The logistics flow was impressive from the get-go with airport and hotel shuttles. The camp logistics on-mountain was even more so. We’d depart camp after breakfast, they’d have tea and snacks set up along the trail, and we’d arrive at lunch to find the mess tent already set up with lunch ready, just to find it and our sleeping tents set up again at the end of the hike with tea and popcorn waiting and dinner shortly to follow. The consideration that the Porter team put into our comfort was overwhelming.
The expertise of the team was unquestionable. The company clearly takes hiring very seriously and recruits knowledgeable guides. Professionals across the board whom we greatly trusted.
With the big wins checked off in style, the company goes above and beyond with personal touches that make the trip truly memorable. I think the most memorable for us was the tradition and ceremony that the team brought to the experience - celebratory group singing and dancing especially, even cakes and champagne! Then small things like hot water bottles to keep sleeping bags warm really made us feel well cared for.

Ringo en Mahamoud waren buitengewoon deskundig, geduldig en motiverend. Hun kennis van de berg, hun aandacht voor ons welzijn en hun constante aanmoediging hebben een enorme rol gespeeld in ons succes. Zonder hen hadden we dit nooit gehaald.
Daarnaast willen we ook het hele ondersteunende team bedanken: de dragers die met zoveel toewijding alles de berg op brachten, de ober die ons telkens met een vriendelijke glimlach bediende en natuurlijk de chef, die elke dag opnieuw heerlijke en voedzame maaltijden bereidde. Het voelde als pure luxe om op deze manier verzorgd te worden tijdens zo’n uitdagende trekking.
De combinatie van professionaliteit, gastvrijheid en persoonlijke aandacht maakte deze ervaring onvergetelijk. Wij kunnen van harte aanbevelen aan iedereen die de Kilimanjaro wil beklimmen!
