It was wonderful that everywhere we went, we were privileged to hear the history of the area or venue; how the food came to be; how their ancestors made their way to Italy from other countries to have a better life; and how family and friendship abounds.
We have been to Florence and Northern Italy, 2nd time too Sicily and first for Malta, all were excellent and different. We don't like big crowds, and Malta and Sicily were not that crowded, great. In Malta the small-town church and dinner and music and dancing and locals were a highlight. The last Sicily hotel with access to the beach and Mediterranean and local eateries was also a highlight. Taormina was and is our favorite city and shopping. OUTSTANDIND trip! Bus transportation from church to metro and back, what a comfort and relief, nice. Thank you, Collette Travel, Davide tour manager, Father Andrew and all the fun travelers from St John's church for a lifetime of great memories.
Excellent trip! The mix of structed activities and free time is perfect. The hotels were excellent as were the activities in each location. This is a great trip for those who want some physical activity without that being the main focus. Plenty of time to relax and take in the beautiful scenery!
Our guide was excellent: passionate about her work, caring about each of us and really made the trip special. The itinerary was excellent with the time and Palermo being very very special.
I loved all the beautiful scenery, and the food was good. No, it was great. Part of my favorite experiences were the agriculture experiences getting to see the different vineyards and the olive groves and the citrus groves and going to the two farms that we went to that that was really great. The vineyard was very interesting hearing about their wine operation. It was interesting watching them make fresh ricotta cheese at the first farm. At the second farm we visited, we watched them make fresh mozzarella cheese, which was also very good, but probably my most favorite part is when we got to Pompeii. When we first arrived, and I saw scaffolding on the side of what it looked to be some kind of structure where they were doing restoration work I didn’t realize what I was looking at until we literally walked into the park and realized that what we were seeing was the former city of Pompeii. It took my breath away I was very overwhelmed by the size and just touched me very emotionally. It just was hard to fathom that an entire city had disappeared from a volcanic eruption, and they have been able to recover a large portion of it and just the structure itself, but they have been able to recover and share it. It was amazing.
Great tour! A little jewel everyday!! Tour guide Flo was superb! Kind and went above and beyond. She took a sick traveler to hospital and stayed with her. She gave us information about where we were she also informed us about what souvenirs best and where to find them. The tour had some great experiences and shopping. And the food fabulous including four or five course meals! I enjoyed seeing the temples. The coast and the farms that were similar yet different from ours in the states. Great fun at the market and tasting of local food
