Pokhara is one of the most beautiful cities to visit in Nepal, and thankfully, one that is easily accessible. From Kathmandu, the lake city is only about 206 km away, which means you can be there in 6 hours via road or in 30 minutes via air. Here is a break down on both options.

For its humble size, Kathmandu offers some surprisingly vast eat out options. From hole-in-the-wall eateries to luxury dining spots, the capital has them all. We list out 10 of the best Kathmandu restaurants for you (in no particular order).

Like gyoza in Japan, gnocchi in Italy, Momo is the Nepali version of dumplings. With an average Nepali consuming at least 4 plates of momos per week, i.e. 40 pieces of momos, it has been declared as the unofficial national dish of Nepal. Hole-in-the-wall eateries serving only momo are as ubiquitous as temples in Nepal. Any comparatively decent restaurant in Nepal will undoubtedly have momo in their menu. Available in several fillings with accompaniment of various types of soups and sauce, and done in different ways, momo is for everyone. A trip to Nepal is incomplete without having a plate of momo.
Let us spare you from the ‘okay-ish’ momos and fill you in the top 9 momo places in Kathmandu. Don’t expect swanky eateries, if you want the authentic Nepali momo experience then you need to go where the locals go (oh yeah, carry a hand sanitizer). Many of these eateries don’t have a name, but like Shakespear said, “What’s in a name?”

Dal Bhat is a Nepali meal which basically means cooked lentil soup and steamed rice. The platter ideally also includes a type of vegetable curry, leafy greens, at least one type of pickle, and a meat dish (which is optional). On average, a Nepali consumes two meals of dal-bhat every day, which amounts to 90 kg of rice every year. If you are wondering what makes the dish so appetizing, here is a list of restaurants in Kathmandu you can try for a plate of lip-smackig and finger-licking dal-bhat, to find out the answer yourself. Make sure to try these dishes on your Nepal trip.

As exciting as it is to spend time in Kathmandu (especially if you’re a first-time visitor), its chaotic pace can quickly cause a sensory overload. Need 1 more day in Rome for st Peter's Basilica and the pantheon. Rest was really good.
The include guided tours are informative as they are conducted by local guides. The optional experiences were also well chosen by Insight.
I walked with a cane (awaiting a knee replacement within 2 weeks after the trip. Vivian and the group of travelers were very patient with me. I would suggest this trip for the healthier individuals. Sites were beautiful, but all the walking is a challenge if handicapped. I was very fortunate to be with our special group of 24 and having Vivian as our tour guide! Overall it was a wonderful trip!!!
The most beautiful country I have ever visited. I highly recommend this trip as it captures everything and beyond that Italy has to offer.
The travel director and driver made it a wonderful trip
"Travel Matters" excursions are often just glorified shopping trips. Especially frustrating was going to a "oil/scent" shop for 2 hours
