day 1Join trip in Split

Our tour starts today in Split, Croatia's second-largest city, picturesquely located on the Adriatic coast. With its blend of old and new, it provides the perfect introduction to Dalmatia. If you'd like to receive a complimentary airport transfer today, you'll need to arrive into Split Airport (SPU), which is a 35-minute drive from our hotel. For those arriving on time, our tour leader plans to meet you in the hotel reception at 6pm for a welcome meeting. Afterwards, for those who wish, there's the chance to go for dinner to sample local cuisine, followed by a walk through Split's old town, which has been granted UNESCO World Heritage status thanks to its historic charm. If you miss the welcome meeting, your Tour Leader will inform you of any essential information as soon as you catch up. If you arrive earlier in the day, there's plenty to see in Split. The historic sites within the Palace of Diocletian are well worth a visit. Built to honour the Roman Emperor Diocletian, this huge residence makes up around half of the old city and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's widely regarded as the world's best-preserved Roman Palace. The city is also brimming with culture and has a host of excellent museums.

There was a good mix of trips/activities, but there were optional extras for which no price was given. The day out at the island was over 90 euros which hadn’t been mentioned pre trip.

This was just a beautiful and most enjoyable first-time tour with Explore. The tour leader, Tomislav, was excellent, combining very efficient organisation and the knowledge to answer all our questions with a great sense of humour. The places we visited were stunning, accommodation was just right and food was lovely.

Croatia Island Hopping was definitely on of the best trips I have ever done with Explore. We stayed in some beautiful less touristy places, our leader was the best and the inclusions were excellent. It was so good I will recommend it to all my friends and I would love to do it again. If you love beautiful scenery, crystal clear water for swimming, small historic towns to explore, delicious cuisine and being with a small group, this is the trip for you!
