Reviews of our Belize Tours for March
Feedback from guests who toured Belize during March.
Discovery Belize offered a great variety of opportunities to see Mayan sites, wildlife and the culture of Belize in Guatemala. The my insights got bigger and better with each site and it may be worth noting that at Tikal that there are steps to help you ascend the top of the site but there are 200 of them. The wildlife on this tour was wonderful with spider monkeys and howler monkeys in the jungle at Tikal alongside many other animals. The trip to the butterfly reserve was fascinating and the addition of all the different types of hummingbirds made this a very special outing. The snorkeling trip at laughing bird caye was just the starting point with a large variety of marine life seen, but the second trip from caye caulker was extraordinary, the coral garden was beautiful with vast numbers of fish swimming among the coral, shark. Ray Ally was extraordinary with the number of sharks and rays swimming around us being breathtaking and the final snorkel of the day was possibly the most special as we met a sea turtle. Our guide. Justin Wiltshire went above and beyond to ensure that our group had a fantastic trip and was always on hand to sort any minor issues out. Justin ensured that our whole group had the best possible experience of the cultures of Belize and Guatemala.
A new trip that exceeded expectations. Early starts for birds and sunrises and fascinating insights ( and climbs!) into Mayan culture, finishing with Caribbean laid back vibe and a day swimming with nurse sharks and rays!
One of the best travel experiences we have every had. We have travelled all over the world with many companies, but this trip checked all the boxes for myself and my wife. Great accommodation, great companions, and an outstanding group leader. Well done G-Adventures.
The guide was great and moved us from place to place with great timing to see the best sights. The accommodations were okay, a couple were not what I would expect based on the cost of the trip. And our transport did not have AC for the first few days - since I had to sit in the back, it did become quite uncomfortable.
Busy itinerary to cram so much into a short time. Great to visit so many places and moving accommodation wasn't an issue (the secret is to pack light). Bird watching and wild life spotting were the highlights of the trip. Definitely worth the effort of travelling over the border to visit Tikal and experience the Jungle Lodge. Found the guide lacked charisma and emotional intelligence. Maybe better suited to leading tours of school children rather than highly motivated adults.
The leader Wilfred was excellent- one of the best ever. Friendly, knowledgeable and very hard working. The Mayan sites, Altun Ha and Tikal were wonderful, Lamanai less so with too many visitors from cruises. The wildlife was a bit disappointing, but we didn't expect to see a jaguar! Butterfly farm very good, especially with humming birds. The (optional) snorkelling trip on the last day was excellent, with three separate sites on the reef and a huge range of fish, plus turtles, rays, nurse sharks and moray eels. And a good lunch. The hotels, luckily, improved each time. The first Bird's Eye Lodge, was not acceptable- a small dark smelly room, and disappointing food. The second, Sea Spray, was a little better but lacked basic facilities. I would classify neither as 'comfortable' hotels. Cahal Pech was good, Jungle Lodge lovely. The other main issue, however, was the minibus. We had problems with the air conditioning on the first, and its replacement was cramped and uncomfortable. So a mixed experience, with great highs and a few lows.
