Willfred was a fantastic guide - knowledgeable, informative, friendly and looked after everyone on the trip. Itinerary was a good mix of temples, scenery, wildlife and coast. Missing the food already!

I thoroughly enjoyed this trip through Southern Mexico, Guatemala and into Belize Undoubtedly the main focus are the amazing archaeological sites, ranging from well before the Mayans up to the Aztecs. The sites were all interesting but quite different. Tikal which is surrounded by jungle was just stunning. In contrast Mexico City buzzes with life with fabulous museums, galleries colonial buildings and street vendors. I particularly enjoyed the much smaller towns of Oaxaca, San Cristobal de las Casas and Flores which were less frantic but full of colour and character. I also thoroughly enjoyed the motor boat trip up the Sumidero Canyon as well as the visits to the indigenous towns. The road trips were long as indicated by the trip notes but necessary in order to cover the distance. Some seats were less comfortable but as the rule is to rotate no one was stuck in one seat for longer than one journey. The whole trip was made even better by our wonderful guide Joshua Flores who was very knowledgeable, well organised and enthusiastic with a great sense of humour. He was always polite and charming to all, whether they were members of the group, hotel staff, drivers or waiters. Being vegetarian in Mexico is not easy but Joshua always made sure there were things I could eat or could be adapted. I also very much appreciated his advice, kindness and awareness of my possible limitations with a steadying hand or quietly asking if I was ok.

A trip of a lifetime. Belize is a hidden gem and I think this is one of the best trips I have ever done. The tour leader Tarique helped make this experience magnificent. The itinerary is perfect, varied and interesting. I loved the diversity, temples, waterfalls, lakes to see colourful birds, beach, snorkelling off of the 2nd biggest barrier reef in the world, howler monkeys, manatees. Those things are just a taster of the trip. I would recommend this trip 100 per cent. Belize is incredible and Explore has put together the perfect trip. Thank you for making the most amazing memories Explore and Tarique our tour leader.

I chose this trip because of the interesting and diverse itinerary (mixture of history, wildlife and beach/snorkelling) with a good level of activity. I wasn’t disappointed. As always, I was with a great group of fellow travelers and an excellent tour leader. Tariqe was always there to help and guide us in our choices, knowledgable about the locality, wildlife and best places to eat and drink. His organisational skills, enthusiasm and sense of humour were appreciated by all of us. The quality of the tour leader can make or break a trip and Tarique is the best.

Tarique, our Tour Guide was excellent and went above and beyond for everyone in the group. However, there was a couple of things on the tour that we felt were unnecessary and just provided a ‘filler’. For example the baboon Sanctuary and the Butterfly Farm. We saw plenty of howler monkeys at Tikal. On the whole the accommodation was good but a couple of places were below the standard expected - The Midas Hotel. But overall we had a wonderful holiday and would certainly recommend.

Belize Reef and Ruins

Spending a few days in Belize (Caye Caulker specifically) before the tour began allowed time to rest after the flights as well as time to acclimatize to the heat and humidity. Before this trip, Belize was a place on the map where I had never been. By the end of the trip, I came away with the feeling that "Belize was now in my blood and would always have a very special place in my heart". Every day and every place was absolutely alive with new learning opportunities. I would say this trip is very good value for money and would highly recommend.
