Make your own way to San Miniato Alto. Set between Pisa and Florence, the medieval town of San Miniato is a jewel of the Via Francigena. Sitting on the top of three hills, it dominates the Arno Valley. After checking in to your hotel, be sure to stroll the old town streets and visits the Episcopal Seminary, the Duomo and the church of San Domenico. San Miniato is known for its white truffles and we recommend sampling these tasty delights perhaps with a risotto at dinner.

Carefully check accommodation as much of it is not in town, which was not ideal. Maps and navigation were excellent. Itinerary was good.

I was disappointed that so much of the trail was on busy roads with no shoulders. I have done other walks in Europe that were on quiet roads and trails.

The trip was well organized with some of the hotels on the trip being real gems especially the one in the agriturismo and the one in Monteriggioni. The team was responsive when I had questions both before and during the trip and the app was easy to use. We had a fantastic time and the route was gorgeous.
