This is the way to travel to Peru as the hosts pointed out significant features of where we were which we’d otherwise walk on by. The guides were very knowledgeable and their pride came through in their discussions.
It was a wonderful and magical experience that we will cherish forever! Everybody worked hard to ensure we had a fun, exciting and comfortable trip. We especially want to shout out the hard work of the porters, waiter, and chef on the Inca trail, they made our experience of the trek so relaxing and comfortable and we were so grateful for all their hard work. We also loved having Ronnie with us as our assistant guide.
This was the adventure of a lifetime. The beauty of the country and people of Peru were made accessible to travellers like me (and my daughter who accompanied me) because of the local expertise and kindness of the guides and staff. The quality of experiences and accommodations were high throughout the trip, and each location delighted us. The Inca Trail was challenging, and we were able to complete it with confidence and in safety and relative comfort because of the support we received. Our fellow guests were wonderful, and we have made memories and built friendships that will endure. I am looking forward to another G Adventures trip in the future.
I will use Gluxe again. My main criticism was the food. For most meals at restaurants we were offered a special tourist menu - this usually was made up of ceviche or quinoa soup for starters; quinoa salad or lomos saltados for main. On a 16 night itinerary with lunch and dinner included this became very dull and spoilt the holiday. In the end we began to insist on ordering off the full menu. We were quite happy to pay the whole thing ourselves. We cancelled our last night meal as we could not face yet another no choice menu of the same things. Most of the restaurants had a tourist feel to them, offering the same dishes to various groups of tourists. This was the major disappointment of an. otherwise very special trip.
The activities, guides and overall experience was great. The Inca trail was more luxurious than expected, and physically harder than I had anticipated. The food in restaurants was limited and repetitive ( soup, trout, potatoes). For a luxury product, being able to order from a full menu rather than a limited fixed price tourist menu would have been better, even if it meant paying a supplemental.
