Loved the trip overall. Took most of the optional tours as well but was disappointed with the one that they took us to at the Ranua Zoo where we went in the morning and did not manage to see most of the animals. Nor were we given a complete tour of the premises due to time constraints. Suggest organzing this tour in the afternoon's after 2 p.m. instead of the morning. The tour operator and both the drivers were excellent and very friendly and accomadating. Thanks for an excellent itinerary...
Some days involve a lot of travelling. This seems obvious but some travellers seemed unprepared for this. On several days there did not seem to be a scheduled meal stop near the middle of the day. Our tour leader worked hatted to have things as well organised as possible but people did not do as they promised. While I have no doubt the transfers on the focal morning were well organised difficulties would have been avoided if the tour leader had stayed until the second transfer took place. The scenery and many of the experiences were excellent. So glad we joined the tour.
While overall the itinerary is outstanding, some of the days are, by necessity very long days on the road. Also, it must be noted that the accommodations in some of the more remote locations are somewhat basic. That being said the trip is very much value for money.
Overall very good, but too many optional experiences should have been part of the original tour. Those extras were way too expensive for what the purchaser got and one of them (the nature park) was a complete and total bust since the time allocated to the event was when all the animals were asleep or hidden from view. The stop at the Husky Farm was good but pricey for the experience. A visit to a place like that should definitely be part of the tour without extra cost to the travelers. Some of the hotel locations were too far from anything interesting for those that chose not to go on that day's optional excursions. All hotels should be within walking distance to places of interest. Two nights stay at a couple of the places was unnecessary and should have been switched to extra nights at Stockholm and Oslo. The overnight ferry was abysmal as the cabins were claustrophobic with no portholes or windows. The advice of the tour director to purchase tickets to eat at the buffet were completely misguided (the food was not good, the enormous crowds for the timed seating were absolutely chaotic, and the experience was again, too expensive for what you got). A meal at any one of the perfectly available restaurants would have been much better, but the advice was that if you didn't quickly purchase a buffet ticket, you were pretty much not going to find any other place to eat on board. This was completely wrong. On a positive note, the general hotel quality and comfort were very good, the food at the hotels for breakfast was superb (the variety of choices to eat was astounding) and the bus was comfy with just the right amount of rest stops along the way. I'm fully cognizant of the long distances that had to be traveled in order to get to the "good" places, and the intermediate places of interest were pretty good and interesting considering there may have not been a slew of places to stop at in between the nightly layovers. The locally hired guides were top notch with the gentleman in Stockholm being one of the best tour guides that I have had in three Trafalgar trips. The very much looked forward to "Be My Guest" dinner at a local farm was a real winner with delectable food and wonderful hosting. Overall, I was pleased with the trip but felt that perhaps, trying to see four countries in twenty days was taking too big a bite. Will probably be looking for slightly shorter, less all-encompassing trips that allow for a slower pace of travel with greater emphasis on what you do see.
Best tour I ever had so far, great value and comfortable.
There was a lot of driving involved, although this could be excused as we headed to the remote regions of Scandinavia, and had to get there and back,.
An awesome tour, well organised, great experiences and guides. Loved every minute. Thoroughly recommend
Too much bus time. Poor accommodation. Was not value for money. Could of flown between Helsinki and artic Circle.. some of optionals should just of been included. Just a money grab by the company. Tour director and driver were excellent. Not everyone wants to see cathedrals and castles. There are so many other things to see and do in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki and oslo. Think out side the box. Make it more exciting
Great itinerary, saw so much and well worth the trip from Oz.
The Nordic Adventure provided a great opportunity to see the beauty of these Scandinavian countries, and to learn about the culture and history.
Everything was taken care of- Tour guide was very knowledgeable, excursions were interesting, extremely well organized- our tour guide even introduced himself via email before the trip so we knew who to look for at the airport or to call if we needed anything. It was truly a vacation- no worries!
our tour director and our driver provided us with excellent service and great driving. We enjoyed thw service as well as the natural scenes. Thank you for your kindness and taking care of our trip. We were extremely pleased with your investigative abilities in solving the problem of the lost bag for an unknown fellow traveller. Because of your perseverance and dedication, you saved a fellow traveller from being miserable when he found his important travel documents. Thank you for caring to take the time to return the precious documents to the rightful owner. As travelers ourselves, we can only imagine the angst of losing our documents, only to have a kind soul who took the time to return them to you because of the kindness of another human being.
This was a great trip! The landscape is stunning, and the sites are unique and interesting. The contrast in the 4 countries in landscape was just amazing! A few days of just driving from one hotel to another, but our tour guide always filled the time with stories of culture, history and social constructs of the area so the time went by fast! If you see Dino is your tour guide, you won't be disappointed, he made the trip so interesting and fun! This is like no other Trafalgar trip and we loved it!
It was an adventure. Lots of places I will never see again. It was a tour to see lots of places that you wouldn’t normally go to. It was amazing. Well worth doing. Our tour director was brilliant. Making sure we saw everything at the best time and to our advantage.
We saw so much of the countryside. I couldn’t believe we travelled 8,000 klms. Some long days on the bus. Some very interesting places we visited. The beauty you couldn’t describe.
Very scenic but was prepared for long drives on the coach.
Not as anticipated that is for sure. Be prepared for busy schedule the moment your feet hit the ground. With four countries and 8,500 kilometres, yes 8,500 Km, I did say that. With one overnight ferry and more than a few short-hop ferries, you will eventually realize the trip is an adventure and not some local tour of Scandinavia. Therefore, prepare yourself for early mornings, long days and quick delicious breakfasts to fuel you through the day ahead. There will be at times, long days on the Luxury Bus as you watch the wonderful Scandinavian scenery pass bye. There will be lots of moments to refuel on the frequent short comfort stops during the day. The Tour Manager, a colourful charismatic character, with a natural leadership personality, will demonstrate excellent organizational skills to keep the adventure moving to meet deadlines for ferries, rest stops, and the many optional extras. Busy as it may seem, there will be many moments to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, pick up that something for someone special, or just take a little time out on your own. You will find many, many yes, optional extras to choose from during the adventure.. Your choice. I will say, I was both energized and tired by the end of this adventure (I'm in my Seventies) and on reflection, I feel I achieved so much personally from this wonderful experience and my fellow travellers. Yes, it was an experience, an adventure and yes I would recommend it for those willing to make the effort.
some itinery should already be included in the package instead of having to pay as an optional tour. eg the Viking experience
There were a few days that seemed just a bit too long on the bus, how ever to see what we saw, you have to understand the distances that need to be covered. My only other Negative comment is that Trafalgar charge too much for their optional extras. On investigating some of them, Trafalgar charged as much as double as to what could be purchased privately, even factoring getting to the places independently. That being said, The tour, The Tour Guide was fantastic. We saw so much and experienced so many wonderful things. I wish we could have had an extra day in the Lofoten Islands area. Stunning Scenery great hotels.
It was all very organized and was on top of everything. The only complaint and it is for both Trafalgar trips we have taken as they push very hard to have you not use the bathroom on the bus. One lady popped in there and there wasn’t even any toilet paper. That will certainly discourage you. Seeing as most travellers are average 55-75, this is a big deal. Yes, there are lots of bathroom stops but I think it is hard to have people pressured to wait until the stops and then stand in line because they feel guilty about using the bathroom on the bus.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. If we were unable to see something detailed on the itinerary the Tour Director () would endeavour to replace with another activity
Good itenary Too many breaks, for coffee en route, which wastes time. Why stop 70-90 minutes after breakfast for coffee? The Santa Claus village was a waste of an entire morning Didn’t get to see Trondheim properly as we reached in the evening and left at 8am Bergen could have been included The river boat cruise was ok, but I felt , a waste of time and money! Would rather have walked along the river!
Needed more options to choose from with the included meals. The buffet meals were fine as there was options to choose from, but the others, it was either the meal provided or a vegetarian option. Sometimes you'd be having a similar meal the next day. Would be good to have more to choose from. Even if it's all reordered so that they could be prepared. The place where we have the welcome dinner. The meal wasn't that great at all. While I like the idea of sustainable eating, the amount of food that wasn't eaten really counteracted that idea
A must. Best time to go. Not too many tourists and the weather is just right. Not too cold and not to warm. And nature starts to show its amazing beauty to the world.
There was something interesting every day, although some days were pretty low-key. We went on every excursion offered. Driving all the way north through Finland and south through Norway gave us plenty of scenery and a bit of understanding of how people live in hostile environments. Lom seems like a good location for a longer, maybe half day, stop. Geiranger is spectacular. Another day in Stockholm would be good.
Though pricey a little bit, it was almost perfect.
Ws a good trip, but lots of "fill" items on the optionals. A lot of driving of course and the trip overall was really costly.
Great trip, awesome drivers and guide! The only issue I had that there were too many optional experiences. Some, I understand but others were so mundane that they should have been in the included tours. Otherwise we love Trafalgar
Too much time on a very uncomfortable bus. Two star hotels and the optional excursions should have been included. The optional excursions are overpriced and some are not as advertised. Dietary restrictions are not accommodated during the tour.
Scandinavia is fantastic however nothing prepares for the awesome scenery in Norway. A comprehensive tour of Scandinavia.
A great itinerary. The tour director and coach driver were amazing. A pity that some hotels were a bit remote from town/ attractions etc.
Excellent director and bus drivers We miss the presents Less optional experiences
This was a fantastic trip! Not many get to say that they've been to the Arctic, the Land of the Midnight Sun!! Every day brought new adventures and unbelievably spectacular sights. The North Cape and Geirangerfjord were definitely the highlights! Yes, long days of the coach, with lots of stops (thankfully), but all worth it. Our Tour Director, J, certainly knew his stuff! Always helpful, friendly, and as I said, very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this trip to others. I've already given trip specifics to others who are now looking into booking a trip of their own. The only negative, if you will, had nothing to do with this trip and all to do with Trafalgar. In the past we would be given a small gift as a thank you for being a repeat customer. That is no longer the case. (We were offered a drink at dinner - which as a non drinker meant a can of soda, blah.) We were told we would now be given discounts on future trips. This seems like a bit of a shyster move since repeat customers have always been given discounts. Handing past-customers a small troll statue, or some such, would not have broken the bank for Trafalgar.
We’ll plan and very well organise. was an excellent tour director who plan everything from start to end. was very knowledgeable of the areas that we visited. We can’t fault and even the drivers and . They were both excellent skilled drivers. Will definitely go with Trafargar again especially if will be the tour director. 100% satisfied customer.
The trip met our expectations of the Scandinavian countries. Norway, especially, is very scenic. Our tour director, Joey McLean, was excellent! Coach was very comfortable and drivers were excellent. Some hotels were sub-par with no kettle, coffee, tea in the room. Trafalgar should list all optional tours on its web site which has 6 but itinerary sent before departure had 16. Besides these couple of observations, we enjoyed the trip. Everything was meticulously planned out and we got to do this once in a lifetime trip to the north cape and see the midnight Sun and hear from locals about their life in these parts !
Our travel guide/manager was fantastic!
The worst tour I ever experienced. I would never used Trafalgar in my tour. It is not worth my money. There was no tour without optional tours of 15 which were over priced and mostly not worth it. You described the tour each day on your marketing as if it was amazing but actually we stayed more time in the bus with toilet and snack stops most of the days. Adding to that, I was treated so bad by the Tour Director and had problematic room mates which made my tour a hell which made me decide to have my own room.
Our travel director was excellent. Nature at its best. More traveling.
This is a beautiful trip that covers a lot of different places, perhaps too much. We went 3500 miles and visited four countries. Saw some amazing sights and beautiful views. But there were some things that were not quite as good as what we expected. Hours upon hours of riding in a bus. Because this was the first trip of the season there were places that weren’t open yet and changed the itinerary of where we stayed negatively. Trafalgar should look closely at this trip and possibly consider not to start this early. Time we spent in Denmark and Sweden was negligible. Perhaps starting the trip in Finland and ending in Norway would have been better.
Tour Director had loads of experience & was fantastic The time we picked i feel was the perfect time to see the countries I think if there was a camera at the front of the bus & that was played on the screens, so we could all see what the tour director could see & what she was talking about Felt we didn't have much time to actually look around places It seemed that souvenir shops was what we wanted to spend our times in. No, I would have preferred to look around the town, so we would run out of the bus & go & look at the place, whilst others were queuing for the toilets & coffee, but didn't get enough time to have a good look, just a quick glance & photo & back to the toilets, although of course some places we stopped only had a cafe & shop & nothing else was around anyway. Some of the hotels were too far away from anything, so even given free time, we couldn't get to the towns or places of interest anyway The stop in Helsinki was for an hour & that time was spent finding a toilet & getting lunch, so I can't say i saw Helsinki The stop at Santa's land in Finland, was far too long, i would have preferred to get to the next hotel earlier & have more free time to look around there, not more souvenir shops, especially as the rooms in the next stop all had their own sauna I understand you want to fill our days, but a bit more free time to look around would have suited me better Some of the included tour people that came on the bus, were as boring as bat sh1t, & we just turned off, some were brilliant & kept your interest The guy from Stockholm was brilliant The king crab experience was far too close to breakfast time The boat experience was very expensive & we saw nothing, i feel this trip should only be offered in nesting season, it was a real disappointment Geiranger was the pinnacle, & it was lovely to be in the hotel by the harbour & the ability to get out & walk around
This trip covers thousands of kilometres. If you don’t like traveling in a bus for long distances, it’s not for you. We, however, found it absolutely wonderful. The sights were amazing. There were plenty of stops along the way to break the travel. We saw the true Scandinavian and Nordic regions.
awesome tour and director
