day 1Puno Floating Island
The tour begins as you’re picked up from your hotel in Puno to be transferred to the floating islands of Uros. The people of Uros call themselves Lupihaques or Sons of the Sun. The larger islands house only about ten families. On the islands, take part in a cultural demonstration to learn more Urosian life and its mystic culture.
Afterwards we board a boat towards the Taquile Island. The Taquileños are known for their fine handwoven textiles and clothing, which are regarded as among the highest-quality handicrafts in Peru. The knitting, however, is exclusively done by the men. Take a short walk to the main plaza to explore the area.
At lunchtime we highly recommend you to try the quinoa soup and the fried fish fresh from the lake. After the lunch, you will go to be transferred to your hotel in Puno.
