day 1 - Arrival

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our representative will receive you and take you to your hotel for the night. Your guide will meet you at the hotel in Moshi and brief you on your tour and check your gear. Missing gear can be rented on this day.

day 2 - Moshi – Londorosi gate – Big Tree campsite

Have your breakfast and get ready for your trek. Our representative will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Londorosi gate for registration. After completing necessary registration formalities, we will drive through farmlands with oven views of the plains to reach the Lemosho trailhead. We will have our lunch in the glades before we start our trek. Today’s trek will be an easy one. You will walk up a narrow path through beautiful and lush forest. Overnight in Big Tree campsite.

Elevation: 1,200 m to 1950 m to 2850 m

Distance: 9 km/ starting point to Big tree campsite.

day 3 - Big Tree campsite – Shira one campsite

Today, we will acclimatize. After breakfast, we will start our walk across a beautiful valley outside Shira Caldera Rim (3600m). After a few hours, we will reach Shira Caldera. This high-altitude desert is among one of the three peaks that erupted in Kilimanjaro ecosystem. The peak Itaer collapsed and formed a crater which eventually filled with lava from Kibo peak. On the way, we will see amazing views and sceneries. Make sure to let the guide know if you are experiencing any discomfort. Camp and overnight at Shira one campsite.

day 4 - Shira one campsite – Shira two campsite

Today, we will trek east across Shira plateau. After breakfast, continue your trek to reach Shira Plateau (Cathedral peak at 3850 m) for acclimatization. Enjoy spectacular views of Mount Meru and Kibo Peak. We will have lunch on the way. Then, continue trekking to Shira two camp for dinner and overnight stay.

day 5 - Shira two campsite – Barranco campsite

Today is another acclimatization trek. Have an early breakfast and start your trek east to a junction leading to Lava tower rock at 4600 m. Afterwards we will descend down to Barranco campsite for dinner and overnight stay.

Distance: 13 km

Hiking time: 6-7 hours

day 6 - Barranco campsite – Karanga campsite

Today we will have a short trek. After breakfast, we will start climbing Barranco wall and reach 4200 m for acclimatization. Continue crossing ridges and valleys to Karanga campsite for lunch. After lunch, we will rest before trekking up towards the Southern ice fields. Then, return to camp for dinner and overnight stay.

day 7 - Karanga campsite – Barafu campsite

Although today’s trek is short but it will be a difficult one due to its altitude. Make sure to communicate any issues with your guide during the hike. Have your breakfast and start your journey across an alpine desert with strong winds. You will continue your trek to reach Barafu campsite. You will have an early dinner at 1700hrs and rest until midnight. Then, we will continue our journey and push for the summit.

day 8 - Barafu hut campsite – Uhuru peak – Mweka hut campsite

Today, we wake up at midnight, have a light breakfast and prepare for the summit ascent. The goal is to climb before dawn so that we can reach Uhuru Peak shortly before sunrise. We depart for the summit at 12:00am and reach Stella Point on Crater Rim (5861 m) between 4 am – 5 am. Then, after one hour of hiking along the Kibo crater rim, we will reach Kilimanjaro summit – Uhuru Peak. Take some time to enjoy the view and take photos. Afterwards, we will descend down to Barafu Hut campsite or lunch and rest. After a while, we will collect our gear and continue down through moorland and heath zone to Mweka Hut campsite for dinner and overnight stay.

Distance: 15 km

Hiking time: 10 - 12 hours

day 9 - Mweka hut campsite – Mweka gate

Today is your last day on the mountain. After breakfast, descend down to Mweka park gate walking across montane forest. This descent will take around 3-4 hours. At the gate, we will sign out and board our vehicle. Then, we will take you back to your hotel.
