day 1 - Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha

On arrival, you will be met by our representative and transferred to Arusha. Check in at a well-appointed hotel. Attend a full briefing session during the afternoon with the head climbing guide.

day 2 - Arusha – Londorossi Gate - Big Tree Camp

Leave Arusha at around 8:30 am and head to Mount Kilimanjaro's Londorossi Gate. After completing the necessary registration formalities at the gate, drive through farmlands enjoying the open views over the plains. Reach the starting point of the Lemosho Trail.

Meet our local Tanzanian staff, most of whom are from the Chagga tribe that lives in the areas around Kilimanjaro. Hike a narrow path through lush vegetation. Stay overnight at Big Tree Camp.

day 3 - Londorossi - Shira I

Start your climb from Big Tree to Shira I. Leave the forest behind and enter a moorland zone dominated by giant heathers. This is perhaps the most unique of all the different ecological zones in Kilimanjaro.

The trail climbs steadily to reach the rim of the Shira Plateau. There is a tangible sense of wilderness in tis area, especially when the afternoon mists descends. Camp at the center of the large Shira Volcanic Plateau in Shira I.

day 4 - Shira I Camp - Moir Camp

Head for Moir Camp today. The camp is tucked away at the end of a large gorge, below a giant lava flow. Travel through the upper range of the moorlands zone, crossing the large Shira Plateau, and ascend gradually.

At this point, you will be on the northwestern side of the mountain. This spectacular camp is located beneath the northern ice fields of Kilimanjaro.

day 5 - Moir Camp - Lava Tower Camp

Ascend through the upper moorland zone into an alpine desert, arriving at Lava Tower Camp. This day takes us out of the heather zone and into an alpine desert. This is a shorter day that brings you close to the dramatic western face of the mountain.

Set up your camp at just over 15,000 ft. Acclimatize before heading for High Camp, where you will reach tomorrow. Enjoy the scenic views of the mountain.

day 6 - Lava Tower Camp - Karanga Camp

Descend 2,000 ft. into the Barranco Valley before ascending the famous Barranco Wall to reach Karanga Valley Camp. Enjoy a beautiful sunset view from the camp. See the glaciers and ice fields above.

day 7 - Karanga Valley to Kosovo Camp

Climb for about five to six hours from the Karanga River to Kosovo Camp (15,600 ft.). Traverse beautiful, rarely traveled areas to enter a high desert plateau littered with volcanic boulders. Enjoy the view of the desert plains in the south while the pinnacle of Mawenzi Peak towers in front of you.

Spend another night above 15,000 ft. Prepare for the summit attempt. Attend a detailed summit briefing covering the climb.

day 8 - Kosovo Camp - Kilimanjaro Summit - Crater Camp

It's the summit day today. Wake up early in the morning and prepare for the ascent, leaving at approximately 6 am. Follow a distinct ridge to approach the crater’s rim. Trek northwest along the rim to the main summit of Uhuru Peak (19,344 ft.).

See the Bismarck Towers, rock pinnacles and the hanging Rebman Glaciers from the top. After enjoying the view from the top, descend down to reach Crater Camp.

You have the options to visit the tiny Furtwangler Glacier on the crater floor, as well as climb up to the ash-pit rim to look down into the blow hole of the volcano.

day 9 - Crater Camp - Mweka Camp

Enjoy an exquisite sunrise at Crater Camp. After breakfast, we descend down from the camp all the way to Mweka Camp (10,000 ft.). Enjoy views of the towering mountain above you while descending through the landscape dominated by heathers.

This will be your last night in the mountain.

day 10 - Mweka Camp - Mweka Gate - Arusha

Walk downhill along the Mweka Route to reach the lush green landscape dominated by a thick jungle. Here, the environment becomes primordial, with 40-ft. fern trees creating a prehistoric atmosphere. Enjoy your celebratory lunch on reaching the Mweka Gate. Drive to Arusha, where you will enjoy a celebratory dinner.

day 11 - Arusha: transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport

It's your final day in Tanzania. Take advantage of the relaxed schedule and sleep until its time for breakfast. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro during sunrise for one last time. In case you have some free time, go out to grab a last-minute souvenir.

Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home. Kwa heri ya kuonana (goodbye and see you again).
