Cherry blossoms in Kyoto, neon-lit Tokyo nights, and sacred temples in Nikko—"Highlights of Japan" brings you an unforgettable 8-day cultural tour, specially tailored for seniors seeking a moderate pace but extraordinary experiences. Travel from Tokyo to Osaka, uncovering the heart of Japanese culture through guided sightseeing, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and an exploration of Hiroshima’s poignant Peace Memorial Park.
This small-group trip blends the best of tradition and modernity, with opportunities to savor delicious Japanese cuisine, stroll serene gardens, and immerse yourself in local customs. In Kyoto, atmospheric streets reveal centuries-old temples, while a side trip to Miyajima offers spiritual serenity and natural beauty.
A major highlight is the chance to witness Japan’s cherry blossom season, a fleeting natural spectacle beloved by visitors worldwide. This tour’s unique selling point lies in its thoughtful balance—providing cultural depth, comfortable pacing, and the chance to experience Japan’s most iconic sites in a way that’s accessible and enriching for mature travelers.
There are many beautiful temples and shrines along the way, each with its own character and all are surrounded by gardens or woods. The cherry blossom (still plenty even though not at its peak season) and other flowers decorate the buildings and make the already scenic landscape stand out more. People are polite, things are organized, trains are always on schedule, hotels are clean and nice, and food is delicious. Really enjoyed the trip.
An incredible journey! Every city had its own charm, from the vibrant streets of Tokyo to the peaceful beauty of Kyoto. The mix of history, culture, and nature was unforgettable, and the food was out of this world. A truly memorable experience, with a brilliant guide to match!
I unfortunately had to join this trip last minute due to my previous trip being cancelled with a different operator. It was the best available alternative but meant I missed out of Mount Fuji which I really wanted to see. I ended up leaving the group at Kyoto to include a trip to Fuji san and caught up with them in Osaka.
Great holiday. Great guide.
