The ultimate northern adventure awaits on 'Grand Scandinavia,' a 20-day sightseeing trip from Copenhagen to Oslo. Cruise the Baltic Sea to Helsinki, delve into Viking history in Oslo, and marvel at Copenhagen’s Little Mermaid. Celebrate the midnight sun at North Cape with champagne and caviar, sample Finnish delicacies at Helsinki’s Food Market, and explore Stockholm’s ABBA Museum and Vasa Galleon. Meet Sami communities and their huskies in Lapland, then close your journey among Oslo’s ancient Viking ships. This comprehensive tour stands out for its sweeping coverage of Scandinavia’s cultural icons, natural wonders, and local traditions.
Interesting places visited, comfortable coach (although I’d prefer seats with backs that could be moved to the vertical position) and comfortable hotels.
A lot of travelling but fantastic scenery and excursions. Particularly enjoyed the cruising components. Would have liked a train journey included.
It was well paced with busier days early in the tour & more relaxed towards the end. Focussing on extra time in the Fiordland of Norway was appreciated.
Optional tours need to be informed more in advance for our decision. Some of them should have been included in the included tour. Some of the optional tours were poor.
The zoo was disappointing
It was full of beautiful and wonderful landscapes. This itinerary has interesting places of culture of each country. The optionals are great and completely different one from another. I almost did all. We have time to feel the views and the places we visited. I love all my trip. 💗
Huge kilometres travelled and so much information to take in and ever changing scenery however I feel it may be more geared towards a slightly older or less active group . ( of course free time is often a chance to do more of what suits your personal fitness/activity level or when optional activities are not of interest)
There is far too great a distance to travel resulting in many, many days having 6 hrs in the bus. Also disappointing was the small amount of inclusions and then so many other inclusions which cost too much. Yes, I do know it is an expensive part of the world. Such a small amount was included. Because of these factors I would never travel Insight vacations again. Our tour guide and accommodation was good.
It have you a taste of some many different places, food, experiences & people. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. The history was also excellent.
Love that this trip takes you through the Artcic circle and to the northernmost point of Europe. It covers a lot of mileage- which is why I chose this itinerary - just means you get to witness even more of the gorgeous scenery (especially in Norway). Also really enjoyed all the ferries and boat rides. My favourite places- Stockholm and the entirety of Norway (especially Geiranger). Favourite optional experiences- swedish summer dinner, Traditional Lapland dinner at a family reindeer farm, wilderness river adventure, and trolls road. Favourite hotel was the one in Geiranger.
Although you have some long days in the bus, you are never bored. They have frequent stops and the scenery is the best you will find anywhere, The Tour Director is so knowledgeable and and passes on this information to enhance the journey. The bus driver was second to none and knows the roads and how to drive them.
This is a once in a lifetime trip! The 4 countries visited are beautiful. The short time scheduled in two countries was enough to make you want to come back for more. The highlight of the adventure was the end in Norway where we spent a glorious week making our way from the Arctic Circle. The weather throughout was unusually sunny and warm. The guidance given throughout by our tour director, was fantastic! There was history of the area, interesting stories, explanations of the next days events and humour in all his presentations. The local guides were also well versed and interesting. Our bus driver, was a valuable member keeping us safe and on time and very pleasant. His ability on switchback roads was remarkable. Insight should be proud to have these two gentlemen as part of their team. The entire experience encourages one to return for future excursions.
Great itinerary!
Itinerary was great. I am not a great lover of museums and churches but all the events involving the local people were superb and enjoyed them all. I realize that when you have a group of 26, like in our case, you have to include events that interest a variety of people. Overall a GREAT trip and a first class tour guide. The scenery was outstanding !!!!!!!!!!!
The itinerary is great with many stops checking out all kind of towns and places to get a better understanding of each country. I would like to travel a little less so we can explore each final destination more and be less tired. Perhaps add 2-3 days to the total time and still reach the North Cape. I wouldn’t want to miss that point.
Grand Scandinavia Tour gave us all an insight to the four countries we visited and an idea of what life was like for those living there. We had local guides in each of the capital cities for an orientation tour. I liked the way we saw many natural sights along the way and visited interesting places, sites or lookouts, which broke up the distances travelled. We also had an interesting choice of optional tours or activities and I found these enjoyable and enlightening.
Excellent tour of Scandinavia. Loved Copenhagen, Stockholm, crossing the Arctic Circle, and Nordkapp. Scenery in Norway is fantastic with snow covered mountains fjords and so many waterfalls. Great group on the coach and the TD and Driver were a fun team. Would have liked an extra day at Geiranger to relax.
Most of the itinerary involves being outside of (versus in) the larger cities.
This is a tour for people who want to spend days driving through beautiful country, gazing at nature. Very slow paved and relaxing. Not for kids, but generally for older ad.
Make the trip shorter or more relaxed. Tooooooooo much riding, not stopping at nice spots. A bit on the boring side.
So well structured. Took us to so many amazing places. Five days above the Arctic Circle was fascinating and something we’d never imagined doing.
Covered 6,000 km through Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway. Very wide variety of scenery and experiences. Knowledgeable local experts who lived locally and were great ambassadors. Spent a week inside the Arctic Circle and got to stand on the northernmost point of Europe, watch the Midnight Sun and celebrate with champagne and caviar just a couple days after meeting Santa Claus at his Lapland home. Stunning fjords and waterfalls, coloured houses along harbours and canals and amazing architecture.
Extraordinary scenery’s! Well organized and the guide and coach driver were excellent.
Every day was exciting and a new adventure. The scenery was amazing. In order to get the most of this amazing journey it was necessary to take the optional extras. The hotels were of a consistent standard as was the food in them. For most this was a once in a lifetime Voyage and will be a forever memory.
Our Tour Director - is so knowledgeable. Finland, Lapland, North Cape, Norwegian Fjord are so memorable. Wish the Scandic Hotel chain could be bought over by the Hilton or 4 Season hotel chain to have a much more comfortable and luxurious hotel experience. Alternatively Insight could find better hotels.
It is something different from European tours. More about nature, animals and scenery but includes churches, buildings etc but in a smaller amount.
The itinerary was good, saw a lot of interesting places. It was at times a little rushed with a lot of one night stops, late arrivals and early starts.
Nothing to add.
Excellent coverage of Copenhagen, Finland and Norway. Not much of Sweden but to cover more would take up another week. The Norwegian mountains and Fjords were the highlight.
This tour was a good mix of cities and culture with nature and incredible scenery. It included fun interactive experiences and interesting optional excursions. Tour director and driver worked well together to make this a fantastic trip.
i felt that just one day in Stockholm and Oslo wasnt eneough also the Kontiki museum should have been included in the itenary
This was a 20 day trip but the time went by so quickly it didn't seem that long. Scandinavia is a beautiful area and I feel this trip gave a good taste of the scenery and culture of the countries we visited. We are very glad we did this tour. TD and driver were outstanding.
Too much time spent on a bus 9 days with 2 day break in between. Scenery and stops lovely but just too long. Perhaps doing a fly in to North cape would be better. This would give you more time to visit Sweden which only had one day. Overall driver excellent given roads he had to negotiate. Tour director excellent and upbeat although got draggy on long bus days which we had many.
This was my and my sisters very first coach tour and it was FABULOUS!! The Grand Scandinavian Tour is an excellent highlight reel of what the Nordic countries have to offer. This tour makes me want to go back on my own so I can take several days to explore each of our stops. Our tour director was fabulous-funny, informative and always ready with chocolate nibbles. Our driver was outstanding!! One of my well-traveled tourmates summed up his driving perfectly-not once during the tour were there any concerns about how he handled the coach and our safety. He was wonderful! This tour has a lot of travel time in the coach (with plenty of comfort stops). When you are not busy being enthralled by the scenery rolling past the windows, be prepared to nap a little (bring a neck pillow), read a book, listen to music, annoy your seatmate, or otherwise entertain yourself. Stock up on snacks by visiting the local grocery stores. My sister and I had a fantastic time and look forward to traveling with Insight Vacations again! The photo is of the Sibelius Monument in Helsinki.
It was a lot of time in the coach, but well worth it to go way up above the Arctic Circle. Our guide was one of the best guides we have ever had! She was extremely knowledgeable on everything. An added bonus as usual was a fun group to travel with. There was only 32 of us and lots of room on the coach.
