Prepare for lots of travel time on the bus and that you will be in small towns rather than big cities a lot
Erica Dalton-Joyce was an excellent tour director. Extensive knowledge of the history of Ireland and very helpful and entertaining. The city and town stops were great. It helped to have a good group of guests to travel with. Highly recommend.
Very thorough, we visited a variety of attractions and historical sites, plus there was plenty of time allocated to see these places. There was also free time to explore.
We would have liked another two-night stay along the trip.
A real feeling that we got to know Ireland as it was our first visit Excellent driver and was first class excellent history and geology info Good hotels and only one poor meal in Connemara
Enjoyed the trip, but highly recommend adding your own days if you want to experience Dublin. This tour is only a bus drive by tour. Loved our guide and drive . Some of the hotels were not 4 star hotels aka Derry. Also, beware the many hotels in Ireland don’t have air conditioning. This is just how they operate so be aware if this before you go. Would travel with Insight Vacations again and especially our guide and bus driver.
We can learn from the lessons of Northern Ireland. Sectarian strife led to terrible violence and loss of life during the troubles. Left unaltered the direction in which the United States is heading can lead to an idealogical divide that can turn violent. This tour gave great insight into these issues with the excellent local guides as well as the comprehensive overview provided by our everyday guide.
Excellent tour, Country roads of Ireland with great comprehensive info given by our fabulous tour guide ! Also a great sense of humour and extra suggestions thrown in. Driver very accommodating and generous. The only hiccup was our airport transfer post tour ...Insight needs to make clear that if your flight is more than 3 hours from their transfer it is NOT included...unless you want to wait at the airport for 5 hours! They only do earlyish morning transfers ( around 0600, 0900).. Hence we had to pay extra for transfer...
Saw all the sights we wanted to see and the time spent at each was appropriate
It was a fairly good itinerary with a lot to see but perhaps a little rushed. Great Tour Director in and the coach driver was excellent.
First, the work performed by the Insight staff was great. Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining; our driver was careful, helpful and cheerfully lugged a lot of suitcases. The scenery is interesting, if not generally spectacular. The cities and features of the countryside are a;so interesting. The people are incredibly friendly. The beer is excellent. The country of Ireland has one large problem: The food is spectacularly uninteresting. It appears that there is one kitchen in the country that distributes food to everyone, every day. It is always the same. It does not change. The Irish may have the best soda bread and potatoes in the world but once ... or twice ... or three times is enough. I would visit Ireland again with the same Insight staff - if the country changes the menu!
It was a great itinerary got to see wonderful places.
Great pace and offerings. Accomodations were excellent, included meals delightful, and coach clean and comfortable. Guide was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. Driver was amazing and made sure everything about coach was tended to. Varied stops provided a glimpse into multiple aspects of the island, and additional outings were offered if desired. Highly recommend.
Packed full of fun, history and the beautiful backroads of Ireland
Our tour director was very good, as well as our bus driver. They were very attentive each day to all 28 of us. Ireland is a beautiful country and the tour gave us opportunity to see so much of it, starting in Dublin and ending in Belfast. One suggestion I would make, having water available on the bus.
Itinerary was good. I saw the places I wanted to visit.
It covered Ireland from Dublin to Belfast and A LOT in between. It offers the opportunity to visit popular sites and some off-the-beaten track adventures that are just as memorable.
Given the duration, the itinerary was excellent and provided a good overview of Ireland, its history, geology and geography. The tour guide made it an interesting and enjoyable trip.
Excellent itinerary Some walking tours were talking tours. Research optional experiences as some are absolutely not value for money in terms of the experience gained. Overall a fabulous trip and a lively, humorous, young tour guide.☘️
We chose this tour because it took us to pretty much all of the places in Ireland that we had heard about and wanted to see. The only drawbacks were a lack of time in the various sites to explore in depth. It would be nice if there were an extra day in Killarney to allow for individual forays into the National Park. Because we did the optional tour to Arun Islands, we essentially had no time to visit Galway, so extra time there might have also been nice. We always felt that we could have used more time at every site (especially Cliffs of Moher and Giant's Causeway). A full day rather than a couple of hours? However, overall the itinerary was good.
A well organised tour with an experienced TD and Driver. Tour had above average number of optionals, some of which, like Galway City Tour, could be included as part of main tour. Only 1 hotel was 4 star (Titanic Hotel) by international standards, even though majority claimed to be 4 stars. Rooms allocated (floor / facing) for tour groups tend to be the worst available in the hotel, including for the 2-3 star hotels like Falls Hotel & Spa, Ballygally Castle & Maldron Derry Hotel. For Falls Hotel & Spa, we were allocated the worst rooms 101 & 103 on the ground floor directly facing cars parked 5 feet away. Connemara Coast Hotel, which claims to be a 4 star hotel did not even have a safe in the room.
It’s a lovely tour with much interesting scenery and history with a well timed itinerary to visit the numerous sites. The tour director and driver were both professional and knowledgeable.
It went to great places and at a great pace. The tour director and driver were fantastic
Well paced. Every day was different. So much to see. So much history to absorb.
Itinerary was good but weather conditions intervened. Unable to visit the Aran islands and replaced with Kylemore Abbey. More time should have been spent at the Abbey.
Comprehensive, saw lots of country and developed cultural insights. Highly recommend.
