Coffee Farm Tour and Tasting Experience

We’ll start our day by picking you up at the door of your accommodation in Medellín (if you are staying in the Poblado area) or at the agreed meeting point starting at 8:00 a.m.
Our first destination will take us to a beautiful coffee farm in La Estrella, where we’ll find a natural oasis just a few minutes from the city. Surrounded by stunning gardens and panoramic views of the mountains and the city, we’ll uncover all the secrets of high-quality organic coffee production in Colombia.
We’ll explore the coffee plantations and discover the key factors that make Colombian coffee one of the best in the world.
Walking among the plants, we’ll learn why organic coffee cultivation involves sustainable agricultural practices that respect the environment, without the use of synthetic chemicals, pesticides, or fertilizers. We’ll see how the soil is prepared, how the seedlings are initially planted in sand before reaching the field, and how the crops are maintained, pruned, weeded, and protected from diseases and pests using organic methods, such as introducing beneficial insects and using traps.
Once the field tour is complete, we’ll enjoy a delicious cup of coffee while participating in an interactive talk about the results of responsible coffee cultivation, appreciated for its distinctive flavor and commitment to sustainability.
Next, we’ll head back to the city to visit Green Hills Coffee, a specialized hulling and roasting laboratory, where we’ll dive deeper into the industrial coffee process. An expert team will show us how the flavor and unique characteristics of coffee are enhanced before it reaches our cup, including selection, roasting, and packaging. This experience will allow us to appreciate each stage of the transformation from bean to cup in detail.
The activity will culminate with a specialty coffee tasting, including award-winning cups with exceptional flavor profiles and distinct notes that have been praised by professional tasters. Here, we’ll fully appreciate the diversity of Colombian coffee flavors and everything that makes it world-renowned.
