Where Coffee Meets the Caribbean

As an Exodus staff member, this was a well-rounded and immersive introduction to Colombia, offering a strong balance of cultural experiences, natural highlights, and local insight. The trip showcases the country's diversity really well and provides genuine sense of how much Colombia has evolved in recent years.

This was a very busy but interesting trip. There were only 4 of us so am not sure how things would have worked out with a group of 16. Particularly when walking through the streets of Bogota. Bogota was my least interesting place to visit. Too crowded. One of my favourite places was Barichara. Peaceful. Pretty. And the hotel was very nice. The hike along the ‘royal road’ was a lovely day. Seeing the countryside and some beautiful birds. The visit to the rammed earth workshop was fascinating and a fun experience. The coffee plantation was a nice visit. Beautiful flowers and birds. For a couple the accommodation was disappointing. The room was large but the bathroom was minuscule. Really needed a revamp. Felt old and grubby especially when compared to the singles rooms in the main house. Beautiful bathrooms. Medellin was very interesting. The cable car was fun. We had an excellent informative guide here. Cartagena was another experience. Hot and busy. Overall I would have preferred to stay in upgraded accommodation. Some of the breakfasts could have been better. An enjoyable trip.

A fantastic country to visit

Colombia is the second most bio-diverse country in the world behind Brazil. The landscape is truly breath-taking. Hilly / mountainous and very green and lush. A bit like New Zealand only with lots more trees, really beautiful. We felt safe the entire time, it's reputation for being a "dodgy place" is no longer justified, the days of drugs and violence are in the past.

A splendid introductory trip

It was a splendid introductory trip. The guides in each city were very good; the the cities themselves were fascinating. We chose our own restaurants which was easy. The museums were quite spectacular, and if you like art Botelo is a master of painting and sculpture. I must say I was confused about the preparatory organization, since it all seemed to be done on-line; and did not come together in a package for us until a few days before we arrived, but in the end the logistics were excellent. The cars and guides arrived on time at every stop, and the hotels were very good. So all in all, well done.

Andras was very enthusiastic hard working and caring. He always wanted to give that little bit more. Sometimes instructions were a little bit muddled or contained a bit too much information, but he was always willing to answer questions and he made sure we came to love Colombia. I found the country very interesting and the tour very varied and colourful. It definitely exceeded my expectations.

Great busy trip. Best tour leader I have ever had and I have done many Explore trips. Columbia is a fantastic country and I would highly recommend it. Be prepared for some long travelling days.
