This trip is incredible if you want to travel to a beautiful country and see some amazing wildlife. I really enjoyed the itinerary, destinations, and many of the activities included in the tour. Highlights were seeing Orangutans, visiting turtle island, enjoying a sunset dinner in Kota Kinabalu and visiting Kinabatagan River.
The trip itself wasn’t run by a contiki trip leader but instead outsourced to a local guide (this was not mentioned online at the time in which I booked my trip). There were components of the trip that were quite unorganised and confusing which led to some negative experiences during the tour as there were activities promoted as having been included in the trip however these did not occur, or only partially occurred due to us arriving late (for no fault of the group). There was also a lack of communication and leadership from the trip leader. My feedback on this has been provided directly to contiki. In saying all of this, I did not regret this tour and there are lots of positives of this trip so I certainly would encourage others to visit.

Guillia put a great self-drive tour together for us and Susana looked after us as we travelled.

The car and accommodation was good and the guides patient and informative.
Only issue we had was parking in small villages, garages, and cities.
Apart from the parking we had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday, thank you.
Bako National Park: Cruise along the azure coasts for a 30-min ride to Bako Fishing Village, checking out all the show-stopping sea scenery along the way.
Bako National Park: Join an expert for a walk through the rainforest. This is your chance to check out all the wildlife here (some found only in Borneo!) including proboscis monkeys, silvered langurs, bearded pigs and monitor lizards.
Semenggoh: Head to the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, just 24 km from Kuching, and meet orphaned and rescued orangutans who have been rehabilitated to survive in the wild. Learn about their rehabilitation, conservation efforts, and orangutan biology from your local guide, and catch the first feeding of the day as these incredible animals explore their natural habitat.
Kota Kinabalu: Zip through the clouds as we head to Kota Kinabalu for some cosy coastal relaxation.

You'll get to see a mother turtle laying eggs on the beach firsthand, see the tagging process and even witness the egg collecting before it's planted in the hatchery. And to finish it off, you'll even watch the baby turtles being released to the sea for the very first time! You don't wanna miss this one...
Selingan Island: Snorkel, sunbathe & soak in the scenery on the oh-so-stunning Turtle Island.
Sepilok: A bear? With a crescent-shaped patch of fur that looks like the rising sun? Get ready for cuteness overload! Your local guide will take you on a tour of the centre, showing how rescued sun bears are researched, rehabilitated, and cared for.
