But there were all kinds of things I did not know about Borneo - like having to go through immigration when we arrived in Sabah and Sarawak, despite being in the same country (Malaysia) the entire time. It's knowing things like this where a guide comes in handy. Our guide (Ronald Lo) was excellent. He spoke perfect, unaccented English, and could identify every mammal, bird, reptile and insect we encountered. As a bonus, he had a high-grade camera, took excellent photos, then posted them - WITH IDs - to a communal site for our reference, which was incredibly helpful.”

An excellent experience to see wildlife in the wild and the amazing work being done at the Sanctuaries - got to see Orangutans, lots of different types of monkeys including the Probiscis Monkeys, Sun Bears, snakes, frogs, 5 different types of hornbills, predatory birds. monitor lizards, crocodiles, spiders, leeches (bring leech socks with you, gumboots are provided), an array of birdlife. Walking, boat and jeep safaris - morning, afternoon and night time to experience jungle lift. Bring a sunhat and a rain poncho - camera and binoculars - it is hot and humid and it can rain - but that is part of the fun! The team of Hazli (tour guide) and Harry (driver) were an excellent combination showing us Borneo - Sabah!
