Undertake one of the world’s most formidable treks - successfully operated by us for over two decades
Traverse 11 remote Himalayan passes, including Rinchen Zoe La (5326m/17,471ft) and Karakachu La (5165m/16,946ft)
Camp in pristine wilderness beside sacred lakes, glacial rivers and remote yak herder camps
Trek deep into Lunana, Bhutan’s most isolated region, snowbound for much of the year
The Snowman Trek is the ultimate rugged traverse of Bhutan through the isolated Lunana region. Regarded as Bhutan’s most formidable trekking challenge, the Snowman Trek is a true Himalayan benchmark - remote, rugged, and undertaken by only a handful of trekkers each season.
Over 27 days, this fully supported expedition traverses a chain of 11 high-altitude passes, including Rinchen Zoe La (5326m/17,471ft) and Karakachu La (5165m/16,946ft) to reach Lunana, the most remote region of Bhutan, snowbound for much of the year.
The route ventures deep into Bhutan’s mountain wilderness, weaving through stark ridgelines, sacred lakes, and high valleys shadowed by 7000m (22,965ft) giants like Jomolhari, Gangchenta and Table Mountain. Along the way, you’ll pass yak herder camps and remote villages where traditional life endures far from the modern world.
With our decades of Himalayan expertise, trusted local crew and strong logistical support, this is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for seasoned trekkers ready to step well beyond the ordinary.
The Bhutan Snowman Trek is everything that is written and said about it. Spectacular landscapes, amazing people and culture and physically challenging unless you are super fit.
My Snowman Trek experience with World Expeditions was great from the first online chat and phone call through the trip wrap up. The guides were top notch and experienced--and also enriched our experience with their knowledge of Bhutanese history, culture, wildlife and specifics on the region. The trip staff who handled the meal prep and camp set up and pack up were true partners, the pre-trip information and guidance was helpful and the logistics were handled seamlessly.
Mountain heaven and hell all wrapped in the same package!
Awesome
A tough challenge, but rewarding in many, many ways: beautiful mountains, lovely people, great company, good food and wonderful support crew.
an once-in-a-lifetime trip to unforgettable Bhutan! Everything on the ground was taken care of, and our guides and support crew were amazing.
Wow. I don't even know how to put into words how incredible this trip was. It was absolutely life changing. The guides were 10/10 and our group had the most amazing time. I felt totally supported and encouraged the whole trip, and I learned so much about Bhutan. My agent, Kalaya, went above and beyond with organizing the trip and answering all of my questions. This could not have been a better experience from start to finish. I highly, highly recommend this trip with World Expeditions.
The Snowman was an epic trek! The views amazingly got better every day. The support from the Bhutanese crew was fantastic. The guides were caring and knowledgeable. Bhutan is magical.
The Snowman trek in Bhutan (completed in Nov 2023) was one of the most scenic treks I have done. The scenery experienced on this trek is one of the most incredible anywhere in the Himalayas. The trek run by World Expeditions could not have been any better. Our guide Namgay Tenzin was excellent with thorough knowledge about Bhutan as well as Snowman trek. He was aptly supported by Chencho Gyeltshen who was equally capable. The food on the trek was delicious prepared masterfully by our cook Hapcho. Our international guide Angel was wonderful as well. Rest of the team including Tepee, Pema, everyone was just great. I would do it again and only with World Expeditions. Highly recommended for those with good level of fitness.
