The tour was well curated and our tour director, is well experienced and able to guide us properly without a hitch throughout the journey.
A very full on itinerary. Very informative and fun.
Excellent itinerary. Good hotel accommodations. One important thing missing from this tour was coach hygiene. Specifically: day one, a couple boarded the coach incessantly coughing and sneezing. Obviously ill. This couple used no protection (masks, tissues, etc), rather they coughed into their hands. I personally offered them tissues and masks to which they refused. We rotated seats on the coach each day. Halfway through the trip, many of us became ill; one tourist ended up in a hospital in Scotland! I returned home one week ago and am just now recovering from a respiratory virus that could have been prevented. During the trip, I emailed the tour director suggesting he announce to all tourists that if you are sick, wear a mask and take other precautions. I never received a response and the ill couple continued the same behavior. Please note: all members of our group were over 55 years old! To not demand basic hygiene practices of all passengers is inexcusable. I will not choose Trafalgar again until I am confident our health is of utmost importance to your organization. So easy! All Trafalgar needs to do is announce and adhere to basic hygiene practices that are designed to protect their tourists or at least minimize the transmission of viruses/bacteria from fellow tourists who are ill! All of us paid a lot of money to enjoy this tour. Pay attention to health protocols!
Offers a variety of activities Leaves time on your own Very well informed and pleasant director Excellent and safe drivers Excellent presentation of history and historical sites Some two day stays were welcomed -does not include Cliffs. Of Mohr - too many extra activities that must be purchased - bus was too full 48 travellers
Great Guide and Drivers. Beautiful Stops. Everyday was funpacked. Accomodations were very good. Food great. Good People. Beautiful weather!
Great itinerary, mostly well-paced.
Very well thought out. Guide very knowable and watched over all of us he was friendly. Bus drivers were very good. Hotels were very nice also l enjoyed a once in a life time experience
The included, extra day tours and the very experienced tour guides gave me a great insight into the countries whilst making it alot of fun.
We went to places that we would never have gone to if we were trying to do this trip on our own. and I or were great. The best tour specialist was in Déry. He brought an understanding of the troubles that was so compassionate and wise.
Was very welĺ.
Lots of coach miles, but worth it. It enabled us to see a lot of both countries. The immersive visits to the farm and historic taverns were worth the time. Great memories. To make it better, lose the stud farm visit, and the hour drive for a dinner. Please add in other stops such as Killarney, and especially the cliffs of Mohor and Trinity College/book of Kells. In Scotland, the boat ride was nice, but could be removed for more time outdoors in the highlands, at waterfalls or lakes. Loved St Andrew but could have spent more time. A great tour package
Loved our tour guide. great trip.
It was so great, I would sure love to have made it also to the Cliffs of Mohr and it would have been perfect!!! Otherwise, all the highlights were exactly what we wanted to see!! (we could have missed the stud farm with no problem!)
Enjoyed the trip very much. Wonderful scenery We stopped at many beautiful places of interest. I do think it was too rushed. The Ireland trip covered too much territory in too short a time. We were required to be ready to go each morning too early for vacation.
Well thought out, allowing us to see many aspects of Ireland and Scotland
Both and did a great job. Thank you very much. The only negative was being pushed to pay for tips as.I was advised by our travel agent, that was not required. Loved Ireland ans Scotland
This was an excellent 15-day tour which captured all the best of Ireland and Scotland, its castles, landscapes and history. It is value for money and surpassed my expectations, and some of the hotels and meals offered were top class. Having been on a couple of Insight Vacations tours previously, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this tour. I certainly would opt to go on other Trafalgar Tours and have my sights on Turkey, Spain, Portugal, South Africa and South America. Alas, being retired, I have to stretch my finances and hopefully, can achieve my goals in the next five years. The tour itinerary was remarkable in that it included all the famous sites that a two-week tour can capture. Starting with bustling Dublin and the enthralling Irish music, dance and humor cabaret, we went to Waterford and saw, amongst other products, the crystal replica of the Ashes trophy, the holy grail of cricket, fought over regularly between the Australians and English. Blarney Castle and the Blarney Stone story did not disappoint either. The drive around the Ring of Kerry and seeing the spectacular scenery, stopping at Galway, Derry / Londonderry, walking on the slippery stones of the Giant's Causeway, absorbing the history of Ireland, N Ireland and Scotland, a visit to Stirling Castle, Isle of Skye, Loch Ness and finally climaxing with the Edinburgh Military Tatoo. What a blast!!
We enjoyed our tour very much. The sights were interesting with a nice variety. The accommodations and food were very enjoyable as well. The tour was well organized and we had an excellent tour guide () and an amazing and skilled bus driver (). They worked so well together, by the end of the trip we all felt like one big family.
I was so delighted to share in the experience with 40 other wonderful people. The tour was well planned and the experiences we had were wonderful as well as educational.
The itinerary was awesome with many options and very accommodating staff and guides. Very informative local guides and clear and accurate instructions from Matt our tour director.
Very busy. Lots of walking and getting on and off the bus. You get a taste for lots of sites but never enough time to really get to know them. I saw them is often all ypu get.
Prior to the start of the tour we were sent options for each day. The director announced at the start of the trip he was narrowing down the choices shown to one choice each day. We were now in a position to take the option or be left in the town where we were staying to shop or be taken to our hotel. This was not smart of Trafalgar to give us as captive group. The bus director had very little information or knowledge of the countries as we traveled along our routes each of the 13 days accept at a few locations. He repeated what the plan was constantly during each day along the route and at the end of the day post on What’s App what we were going to be doing each day. I will no longer be traveling or giving friends positive feedback to use Trafalgar. I will continue taking more cruises on Viking as I have in the past. I hope things get better with info like this for Trafalgar.
Tour well put together. I thought the variety of experiences and places visited represented what I wanted to see.
Missed loch ness and would've liked to see cliffs of mohr
Great itinerary but visit to Culloden (Scotland) was not a good choice. Meaningful to the Scots but not regular visitors.
We enjoyed every moment. Especially the excellent shows of music and dance The top being the Edinburgh Royal Tatoo
There were a lot of optional experiences which increased the overall cost of the trip substantially. I would have preferred to have a number to be included in the trip with the overall cost increased so the overall cost was not such a surprise.
The personalised service and the local specialists that Trafalgar engage make the experience so much more rewarding.
Yes! The trip was just the right length and gave us a good overview of life in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
The tour was great fun , the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. The bus driver was very caring and engaging with the clients on the tour .
It was a great itinerary.. enhanced by a superb tour director.. and an excellent driver.. .. Really felt like we got to experience a lot of Ireland and Scotland and were put in meaningful contact with many locals who were very cordial, helpful, and sharing... a couple accomodations "shakey" but overall very good... Again and were a joy.
The itinerary was very good. My only suggestion would be that it would have been helpful to know of sites of interest to visit that were close to tour stops. In several instances, there were great castles and cathedrals close to a stop or hotel where the group was staying, but I didn't realize it. Not everyone on the tour has the same interests, so it would have been great for everyone to be given a choice of sites to see within easy walking distance.
Packed with history, experiences, unforgettable sights, I could not just name one as it was fantastic. The guide creates the mood of the group and in this case it was a great experience and so much fun to join the group as a solo traveller. Question now is : "What will be my next adventure with Trafalgar?"
It was good saw heaps, 3 countries in 15 days Had a great time.
We certainly hit the highlights of three countries on The Best of Ireland and Scotland! It was an amazing taste of beautiful scenery, unique cultures, sobering history, and amazing castles. Local guides were informative, and I cannot compliment our tour director () and bus drivers (and ) enough. All were personable, helpful, and caring and made the trip even more enjoyable.
Our trip guide was excellent! She kept us (seniors) informed at all times throughout the trip. Each day included enough activities to ensure we went to bed tired. The selection of activities hit on the best reasons for visiting Ireland and Scotland. Being unseasoned travellers, we found ourselves walking more than we anticipated. Some activities, like kissing the Blarney Stone may not be possible for all seniors. The Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle was the highlight. Overall our experience was excellent. The only negative comment would be the no name tag policy. It takes too long to get to know the other travellers.
It was a great experience and we had a wonderful time. Our guide was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this to other people.
Overall, provides a good showing of Ireland and Scotland. However, some of the optional tours should have been included. The extra charges for them was definitely a surprise and added up! They are optional but not going makes you feel like you’re missing out. The schedule is busy, but understandable in order to get to see the highlights.
Some of the optional tours could be included and other excursions as optional. Very busy but understandable. I preferred the two night stays as gave more time in places. Overall a great experience to see the highlights
This trip was fantastic. Our tour director and driver made it wonderful, seeing to every detail.
Full of historic highlights of each country. Good balance of larger cities and also countryside visits.. Not too strenuous. Enough free time to explore researched sites in each town. Usually no more than 2 hours on the bus to arrive at a new destination. We liked all included tours and excursions that we paid for.
Our tour guide, *personal info removed by Feefo* , was incredibly knowledgeable and organized. She was so detail-oriented....everything went so smoothly. Our driver, *personal info removed by Feefo* , was also amazing - very professional and skilled. The itinerary was well thought-out and included many excellent points of interest.
So many great cities and stops! Loved Kilarney, Belfast, and Edinburgh. The biggest highlight by far was our tour manager *personal info removed by Feefo* and bus driver *personal info removed by Feefo* The local guides and specialists were also spectacular.
Should add the Cliffs of Moher
You might want to consider the age and needs of your group. Instead of one night stay's, I recommend two at the most. Also, if possible (where hotels or inns) don’t have elevators, place the elderly on first level. Easier to handle.
A well rounded trip as expected from Trafalgar.
Everything was well organized and as the name states, was The best of Ireland and Scotland”
This was a thorough trip of Ireland and Scotland. We had plenty of included and optional excursions. Our trip concluded on the first day of the Military Tattoo outside of Edinburgh Castle. This was a grand way to end the tour and I highly recommend choosing a tour date for this to be included.
You get to see and do a lot in this tour. The tour is well organized; however there are multiple early i.e 8 a.m departures and multiple one night stay in towns which are tiring. Some of the optional experiences are way too expensive for what you get to do/experience. The travel coordinator and bus driver were super friendly and helpful. Lastly, I did not like the idea of tipping for every experience as we already joined an expensive tour so I don't see a reason for additional tip at multiple occasions. This should ideally be covered by the tour. Overall worth doing but I recommend considering the above improvements.
I really enjoyed this very special trip I always dreamed of going to Ireland so after my chemotherapy treatment and radiation treatment I booked my trip and it was my dream come true and it was so beautiful. our tour guide was the best and really knew so much about Ireland and Scotland she was very kind and helpful I would do another tour like this again to Spain and Portugal. Seen everything I wanted to see and the people were very kind so I rated my tour guide a 10 very knowledgeable and professional and very friendly.
Not only are Ireland and Scotland beautiful, they are rich in history. The local guides provide a personal touch to the excursions.
No complaints
Excellent travel guide and drivers. Much in-depth information about each place and plenty of free time to explore on your own. I highly recommend this tour!
We had agreat trip. We went to all the main tourist attractions and more. was very informative, professional, and very friendly. And the Bus drivers did a fantastic job as well. Thankyou and . We went to places we wouldn't go to on our own, and we would definitely do another Trafalgar Tour. We also met some lovely people on our trip. It was definitely worth it , we loved it.
Wonderful trip, lots of fun things to see and do. Some inclusions I wouldn't have chosen to do myself, but they were really fun. The countryside is beautiful, especially if you get good weather like we did.
The Tour Director and Local Guides were all very pleasant, informative, and enthusiastic. The drivers were careful, helpful, and professional. The tour hit many high spots, but as in any tour of this nature by necessity, the stops tended to be shorter than we would have liked. The coach was almost as comfortable as a coach-class airline seat: not nearly enough leg room for my 6 foot frame.
Memorable!!! Low stress…saw and learned so much!
It was a great trip, the scenery was beautiful; I feel we visited many of the popular sites; the food was great; and the entertainment was fun!
Good itinerary, lucky with the weather, knowlegeable guides.
It was great there was lot we seen that we wouldn't of known about with out the tour. the tour guide was excellent and very noligable and our bus driver excellent driver.
We thoroughly enjoyed this trip. We saw so many different highlights of Ireland and Scotland.
Well planned. Wonderful director and bus driver.
It was a great itinerary, saw a lot of iconic locations. I wanted more time in some of the places that we visited. But that is the trade-off for getting to a lot of different places. You don't spend enough time to really enjoy where you are. Also, about half of the hotels that we stayed in were not "quality" hotels by any means. I realize that we are in the middle of the countryside sometimes, so it is slim pickings for overnight stays. But one hotel in particular was very dumpy and dated (in Newtownmore). The Killarney hotel was outside of town. It would have been much nicer to stay at one of the hotels that were in the downtown area. That's where all the shopping, dining and other activities were. These trips are expensive, so I expected better.
Itenary was fine. Hotels VERY POOR. Tour director OK. Driver excellent. Vegetarians should not travel Tafalgar. They don't care. We have taken several Trafalgar trips. Were always VERY Happy. THIS TRIP WAS POOR.
We really got to see a lot. More advanced description (and other options) of excursions and the time slot for excursions would be great. We had 15 minutes to decide on maybe 10 different excursions. Also advertising free transfers then scheduling our flights during times where free transfers are unavailable was not desirable for us. We had to pay for our return home transfer. Also because of such an early flight we missed the goodbye dinner and breakfast. Not happy about that at all.
Lucky us weather was good! Full itinerary, but there were options for free time to explore on your own. Interesting sites, great tour guide, he really made a difference in educating before each stop, so historic site made sense.
This is a wonderful overview trip of Ireland and Scotland. The itinerary covers a lot of ground so this is not for you if you want to have several nights in each place BUT it is perfect if you want to get a nice acquaintance with Republic of Ireland, N. Ireland and Scotland. Our tour director, was fabulous and a big part of making this tour so interesting.
Amazing itinerary to see the great "must see" places in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland in a couple of weeks. The people, views, historical/iconic landmarks, history, music, food and whiskies!! Our tour director, did a fabulous jobs to ensure we get all that in such a short time.
Poor value for the cost of the trip. Bus was not as comfortable as the Costsaver trip completed after this trip and yet we paid substantially more for Trafalgar. Isle of Skye sightseeing was poor, not worth the travel there. Hotel on Isle of Skye was below standard. Old run down, room and beds were below standard expected. Guinesss tour, Cliffs of Mohar and Kelpie Statues should have been an option. Bus driver should be allowed to to interact more with travellers. He had a great personality but had restrictions placed on his communication and wasn’t even allowed to play music.
It was great. We got a little taste of a lot of places. I enjoyed visiting the locals in their businesses. Our tour director, Brooke was very knowledgeable of all the places we visited. Our bus drivers, Worchec & Keith were excellent.
Some of accommodation poor considering i payed single supplement and received smaller rooms than others. Was advised that accommodation limited in Highlands. I researched this and there were many better. Not value for money. Last stay in Edinburgh poor choice - not in city Extra tours were a rip off
This was a very full on & fast pace tour which didn't leave a lot of time to do our own things as well. Some of the extra excursions were disappointing & some of the meals weren't enjoyable at all. Our tour guide was average, didn't really engage much with us, was knowledgeable about things but wasnt there to meet us in mornings before boarding coach or after an excursion or meal etc. Details regarding extra excursions need to be more detailed as we were put on the spot to buy them as soon as trip started & we were left disappointed with some of them, ones that included meals were not up to standard, some didn't include drinks so ended up being very expensive. It would help if we knew what was on the set menu as we ended up having similar meals & also not everyone liked it. Our stopover at Isle of Skye was very tiring after traveling on bus all day to get there then doing a siteseeing tour straight away which took another few hours! Also coach was uncomfortable, internet was poor & some of the hotels were not nice. Overall we were disappointed & would recommend this trip especially to anyone that can't do a lot of walking. Something that could of been included in Edinburgh was The Kelpies which we did ourselves & were absolutely amazing a real highlight & free!
Good itinerary and great knowledge by our Tour Director. From small towns to big towns there was enough to have one looking forward with anticipation
This trip was fabulous! What I think made our trip so great was not just the places we stayed and went to but it was our tour director. It really makes a difference with who tells the stories and how they are told. He is awesome. His humor was great. He didn’t just read out of a book history but told things in such a relatable way that had you wanting to ask questions and know more. He always went above and beyond and made the single women know and feel that we would be safe shopping in the cities and he was near by. This trip was great. But for me and others from my trip, we all agree that is was that made our trip as great as it was. If you take a trip with Trafalgar, you need to make sure is your director. It will take a great trip to the time of your life trip!
our guide was super knowledgeable. He brought history & culture alive. Loved the authentic, off the beaten path excursions & experiences. The Haggis ceremony, bagpipes, castles, etc. Not a fan of some of major cities. Was more interested in the small, quaint, antiquated towns , pubs, etc. there were about 30 people on our tour & that was a nice amount. Not too many & not too few. Trafalgar tours took care of the planning, transportation, etc. felt safe too. Would use trafalgar again & have already recommended it to my friends & family.
The itenerary was excellent - it covered so much, at least once we went for the optionals. Great guide, very knowledgeable, great driver, a real gentleman. Everything very expensive now when paying from Canada, so that was a bit of a downside....but the actual trio ...loved, loved, loved. Good variety from castles to irish wolfhounds, to Irish horses stud farm, to border collie, sheep herd training, city tours, and the scenery.... Probably things we did not see or were rushing through, but in 2 weeks, did not expect anything else. No bus ride was too long, we were always stopping to see something along the way, either a picture opportunity, or a scheduled tour, or whatever,
Great tour, but could have seen a few more landmarks while on the route, instead of just browsing in town. Stirling Castle for one.
The experience of traveling to Ireland and Scotland was absolutely incredible. All of the excursions were well worth taking.
Even though it says it's an Ireland and Scotland tour more time is spent in Ireland. Very fast paced trip and some areas that were of interest were only viewed from the coach. A great way to meet people from different parts of the world.
