We got to see everything we were expecting and the tour guide was great. The bus driver was awesome transportation pick up at the airport and the hotel was great. The Greenbrier and the Omni were gorgeous. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The only drawback was getting back on the last plane out and had to wait around at the airport at the airport so long, but otherwise it was all great. Met a lot of great people. We will definitely try Colette again.
Michael was the best tour guide we have ever had! If all of your tours had an equal to him you would be hard to beat!!!
The Greenbrier
Staying at the Greenbrier Resort was the highlight of the tour. The bunker tour was extremely interesting. We were given free time to go off on our own. The bus driver was friendly and would provide us with water. Our tour director was accomodating, very knowledgeable, and was a great storyteller.
Overall, excellent however walking expectations were grossly understated. The DC day was extensive and still feel much was missed…needed a second day there or should have had begun upon arrival to include more. While both hotels were elegant the beds at the Shoreham were extremely hard and the bathroom far too small and difficult to maneuver with no grab bar anywhere for stability. The bed was somewhat better at The Greenbriar but the pillows were lumpy! If not from exhaustion from extended walking well over the 2 to 3 miles stated, no sleep would have occurred! It was also misrepresented that we’d have two formal dinners at The Greenbriar. Meals were excellent but the dining areas lackluster….breakfast in the true dining hall definitely the highlight over dinners
Touring bunker was excellent. Tour guide was knowledgeable.
My favorite experience was a horse drawn carriage ride at Greenbrier. We did this on our own expense.
Greenbrier Resort was awesome from checking in, restaurant service and excellent meals, extremely friendly staff and very knowledgeable docents who took us on the hotel and “Bunker” tours. Resort is huge and will take time to become familiar. Beautiful golf course with a good restaurant to dine and great socializing.
Everything was great, I liked it all.
