Please see our itinerary for more details.
day 1 - Arrival in Anchorage
Welcome to the largest city of Alaska, most often thought of as the state's capital. Anchorage is Alaska's most populated area, yet it's also home to many wildlife including bears, moose, and wolves.
Start off your vacation flying into stunning scenery overlooking the Chugach, Alaskan, Kenai, and Talkeetna mountain ranges. Although Mt. Denali is only visible 20 percent of the year, there's a chance of catching a glimpse.
After your flight into this urban wilderness, make your way to our accommodation for the 6 pm pre-departure meeting followed by a group meal. Take this evening to get to know your fellow travelers and guides.
day 2 - Drive towards Denali National Park
In the morning after breakfast, we head off to the amazing Denali National Park. Whether its flora or fauna you came to see, this is the place to fulfill your hopes of seeing large and small wild animals living as they have for ages.
On the way, we will stop in the small town Talkeetna for an extended lunch break. After more exploration, we will head back to our accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
day 3 - Wilderness Shuttle into Denali National Park
We have set up our campsite inside the National Park and the following two days, you will have the opportunity to take a bus ride through the national park along its only road and hopefully spot bears, moose, caribou, or wolves.
For those looking for a heart pounding and more strenuous adventure, you’ll have the opportunity for trailblazing throughout the park’s six million acres and/or meet the Sled Dog Team in Denali National Park. Overnight at camp.
day 4 - Hiking in Denali National Park
Today, we will enjoy the wilderness of Denali. You can choose to go on short or long hikes to one of the many lakes or climb a mountain! You also can go on an optional rafting trip.
In the evening, we will sit around the campfire, listening to the sounds of the night and share our adventures of the day before retiring to bed.
day 5 - Wilderness Camp at Maclaren
After breakfast, we drive the lightly traveled Denali Highway from Denali. Located in the Maclaren river valley, you traverse through high alpine country on the state’s second highest highway pass. Here lies the Maclaren River Lodge run by Alan and Susie, who are fantastic hosts that will take us on a jet boat ride up to "The Remote Glacier Camp."
Now we’re out in the wilderness on our own, no mobile phone reception and no roads. We'll stay overnight exploring and camping out in the wilderness.
day 6 - Relax at Maclaren River Lodge
After breakfast, we canoe down Maclaren River in the morning. Arriving at the lodge around lunch time, you'll have a free and relaxing afternoon at the lodge. We will have dinner inside the lodge today and get the amenities of a bed tonight!
day 7 - Drive towards Wrangell St Elias National Park
Today, after breakfast, we will visit the largest National Park in the United States and camp at the "End-of-the-Road” campground. We will be camping here for three nights.
day 8 - Wrangell St Elias - Glaciers and much more!
Today, we have a day full of activities you can choose from. After breakfast, you can choose to hike, ice climb, and glacier walk, go on a guided mill tour, go rafting or take scenic flights. Activities for the following two days will be yours to decide.
day 9 - Wrangell St Elias - enjoy McCarthy and Kennecott
Today, we have a day full of activities you can choose from. After breakfast, you can choose to hike, ice climb, and glacier walk, go on a guided mill tour, go rafting or take scenic flights.
day 10 - Driving towards Valdez
Today we drive towards Valdez after breakfast. Valdez is the terminus of the 800-mile trans-Alaskan pipeline that begins at Prudhoe Bay.
Valdez is an important gateway to the interior of Alaska and is well known for bears to come to the local salmon fish hatchery and the surrounding creeks. So, we will venture out to hopefully see some wildlife after setting up our campsite.
day 11 - Valdez – Kayaking around Ice Bergs (optional)
After breakfast, we recommend our optional activity – Columbia Glacier sea kayaking or the Wildlife cruise. You can also choose to hike or rent bikes.
day 12 - Driving through the Chugach Mountain – Anchorage
Today is the last day of our trip. After breakfast, we cross Thompson Pass. Along the way, we will pass by stunning views on Worthington Glacier. Our lunch stop will be at Matanuska Glacier before returning to Anchorage in the late afternoon. (Approx. 3 pm)
