We had awesome trek to see Gurung community with the help of Sujan and the local operator. We managed historic hill trek to Siklis still retains an aura of old times. Historically, Siklis is renowned as one of the major origin places of Gurung Community. Here, we find the various ritual practices of Gurungs especially the works of Jhankri (shaman) and Lama (priest), who have important roles in marriage, death and day-to-day lives. Traditional technologies like alcohol fermentation, weaving clothes and sacks from the wild nettle, weaving various bamboo products, traditional water mills and stone grinders, wooden threshers etc are also the important features of Siklis. In this region we spot Nepals birds of prey including the 9ft wingspan Lammergeyer. The trip entailed an easy 10km walk in the local national park situated in the foothills of Kathmandu. The drive to the start of our trek was only 1hour away, but it was a perfect way to escape to the countryside from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu town. The campsite was perfectly set up and ready for our arrival, tents with beds and lighting and with a restaurant and bar which served the freshest food for lunch and then a lovely bbq in the evening. In the morning we had a few snowy mountains to greet us for breakfast and then after a short walk to the local village, we were then served lunch before out transport took us back down to Kathmandu.
