I just completed a EBC and Gokyo Valley trip organized by this local travel specialist based in Nepal, what a wonderful itinerary. EBC is a bit of a letdown as there isn't much to see but Kala Patthar, the glaciers, the mountain pass and Gokyo part of the trip certainly make up for it. At times challenging with the altitude but worth the effort. Everything went smoothly with the company, if you are traveling solo expect tto share a room in the tea houses unless you communicate in advance specific needs or request. Most teahouses have sharing accommodations and rely on income form meals, so unless it is planned in advance sharing would be expected. Overall communication was prompt and excellent, our guide was very knowledgeable, experienced, and patient. Our group was very small, just two of us. I had a bit of altitude sickness and was unsure about being able to complete the mountain pass after EBC, I had no doubt arrangements would be made should I needed to come back sooner. The agency was also great with hotel accommodations and tours in Kathmandu. Highly recommend them, Arjum and Raj are geat to work with.

Lobuche Peak actually includes two different summits, East (6119m.) and West (6145m.). An uninterrupted edge links them but there is a significant distance between the two. The east is identified as a trekking peak while the west is regarded as an expedition peak (meaning that it is only for experienced climbers). This climbing trip is for Lobuche East Peak - a climbing peak, and hence a relatively easy climbing peak (which can be done also if you do not have any previous climbing experience), firstly climbed by Laurence Nielson and Ang Gyaljen Sherpa in 1984. Lobuche East Peak, an eye-catching trekking peak, is a great little challenge. Its South Face goes down to the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier. Lobuche East is ascended by moving up a marked notch hiking up steep snowy slopes. Most of the times, the peak is ascended on a ridge leading up to the summit. Chandan proved to be more then the most capable and knowledgable of guides, always looking after us etc., he was also very personable and fun to spend with me during the trek ! We had many great laughs, eclipsed only by the wonderful places he took us to see. His knowledge and grasp of everything Nepali gave a deep insight into much more then just the trekking and mountains whcih Nepal is famous for. If you do a trek in Nepal ask first for Chandan Magar and you know your money is well spent! Sujan, who booked the tour and everything else for us in Kathmandu, was also not only a great professional but a good friend to have when overseas and far from home. More than 2,000 different flowering plants have been recorded in the Kanchenjunga area and in the springtime some of the richest rhododendron forests in Nepal can be seen.
