Chitwan National Park is one of the most popular wildlife safari destinations in Nepal. Located in the plains of the Terai in the southern part of the country, this national park is known for its abundance of wild animals, including some endangered species such as one-horned rhinos and royal Bengal tigers.

In 1984, UNESCO designated it a world heritage site. You will take a comfortable tourist bus from Kathmandu to Chitwan on the first day of the trip. Walking, wildlife, food and culture: this tour ticked a lot of boxes for me. It is true that the poor visibility at this time of year (March) meant that the Annupurna mountains weren't visible during much of the trek, but the landscape with its flora, fauna and small farms still made the walking interesting and enjoyable. A special highlight was seeing the one-horned rhinoceros at the Chitwan National Park, and the cultural events staged at the Green Chwadi Retreat at Chitwan were an unexpected bonus. There was a wealth of birds to see throughout the tour, and our tour leader, Su, was very knowledgeable in identifying them. As someone who is unable to eat gluten, I had been worried about how I would cope with the food; and I am extremely grateful to Su for helping me to navigate this, as well as ensuring that there were always things available for me to eat.

The tour starts off in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal and the capital of Nepal’s culture, religion and architecture. The vibrant history of this mystical and ancient place has left its mark in the distinctive architecture that ornaments the city. The Himalayan giants are visible from the city itself and combine with the ancient architecture for spectacular views. We'll take you to the edge of the Kathmandu valley to the famous tourist destination of Nagarkot Village, where you will get an even more spectacular view of the Himalayan range.
Nepal is much more than just the Himalayas. We'll take you to Chitwan National park to explore Nepal from a completely different angle. Chitwan is the most visited national park in Nepal, famous for its elephant safari.
After Chitwan, head to Tibet – a secluded piece of land rich in spectacular landscapes, mystical monasteries and vibrant culture. Travel through small Tibetan villages whose inhabitants are one of the friendliest and most welcoming people you will ever meet.
The biggest highlight in Tibet is visiting the capital Lhasa, together with its royal palace and spectacular monasteries. Travelers will visit the famous Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple, both of which offer immense spiritual rejuvenation and inspiration. The Potala Palace features an overwhelming array of intricate murals, temples and stupas, in addition to the tombs of eight previous Dalai Lamas, exquisite Tibetan Mandalas and other relics of Tibetan history. The tour continues to Namtso Lake in Tibet.
This biking safari adventure takes you, at first, for a thrilling ride around the Kathmandu valley. As you ride up and down the hills and adventurous trails on your mountain bike, the beautiful Himalayas dominate the skyline. And then, the trip takes you to Chitwan National Park. You begin your biking adventure by paddling from Kathmandu. Enjoy riding in the bustling city and then start a challenging ride to Kakani, a quiet town atop a ridge. The hill station offers mesmerizing views of the Himalayan ranges from Annapurna to Everest (weather permitting). Ahead is a 9-km single track, known as “Scar Road”, which runs through Shivapuri National Park. In the trip, you will get lots of opportunities to ride in challenging trails. On Day 3 while biking from Shivapuri village to Chisapani, you will ride on a single biking trail known as “30 Minutes of Heaven”.
From Chisapani, cycle to Nagarkot, which is another popular hill station offering the breathtaking sights of the snow-white peaks. The major attraction of staying overnight at Nagarkot is the sunrise in the morning. Wake up before dawn and go out on the balcony. You will be amazed at the scenery. The sun rays light up the Himalayan mountains and turn them from white to red and gold.
From Nagarkot, ride for 5 km along a ridge at first. You will pass through beautiful towns that have preserved their cultures well and have distinct medieval look. They are Panauti and Dhulikhel, both of which are Newari towns. You will stay at Dhulikhel today. The next morning’s ride will take you from Dhulikhel to Banepa via the sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site, Namobuddha. From Banepa you will be picked up and driven back to Kathmandu. You will pass through a giant statue of Shiva, one of the significant Hindu gods along the way.
When the biking tour ends, the safari adventure begins. Take a drive to Chitwan National Park. At the park, you will do lots of activities such as elephant safari, canoeing, jungle safari, visit to elephant breeding centre and watching wildlife. You will get to watch some of the rare wild birds and animals and plants.
