Our guide really made the trip more than anything but the itinerary was very well put together with so much of such a huge country being covered in such a short time. This is my first trip travelling like this and it is by far the best holiday I've ever had, I feel like I made genuine friends with all my companions and never felt lonely despite arriving in the country on my own.

From fast-paced modern cities to the well-preserved remnants of a long and storied history, this adventure reveals the many sides of one of the world’s great cradles of civilisation. It’s important to contrast the big and the bold with quiet moments and real connections. That’s why the tour of the Terracotta Warriors finishes with lunch at a local family home and why time at Shaolin temple, the birthplace of kung fu, is contrasted with boisterous Beijing. Hike a classic section of the Great Wall in Hebei Province. Camp, explore and trek between small villages after exploring the iconic sights of Beijing. This innovative itinerary takes in a remote section of the Great Wall outside Beijing in Hebei Province. Hosted by local families, we camp in comfort in exclusive locations and explore the Great Wall over five days, trekking between villages. The scenery is vast and diverse as we trek our way through tall swaying corn cropped field to distant green river valleys with one of the great wonders of the world as our backdrop. Host families provide us with true rural hospitality in the 'real China' and allow us rare interaction, including visits to family homes. In Beijing we visit the capital’s major historic sites such as the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. We also indulge in the culinary delight that Chinese cuisine is so famous for. The Beijing food experiences will no doubt compete with the trek itself as one of the highlights of this entirely unique adventure.

Oliver was an amazing and attentive tour guide. He was able to swap around our itinerary to ensure that we didn't miss out on attractions after string winds caused the Govt to close buildings fir 2 days of our trip.
The Great Wall is SO impressive and photos do not do it justice! On this trip you visit parts of the wall where you have it to yourself for most of the day. This was a major highlight!

China: fantastic trip, saw the sites, are good food, learned, Howard was top notch, pace and transport was perfect and all well-timed
Japan: Hidemi was great but there was too much trudging in the rail / metro system. Koyasan and Hakone were not worth it in my opinion for the amount of work it took to get there.

Any trip to China is incomplete without a visit to the magnificent Great Wall, and one of the best places to admire the grand structure is from Beijing.
This guided bus tour will take you solely to the Mutianyu Great Wall in Beijing, so that you can thoroughly explore the structure. Mutianyu is one of the best-preserved and best-known sections of the wall, and during hotter months, it's also one of the least crowded locations--making it a relaxing visit.
Your tour guide will pick you up from your Beijing downtown hotel lobby at around 7 – 8 am based on hotel location and settle you into a comfortable, air-conditioned bus to start the trip.
It takes approximately 1.5 hours to drive up to Mutianyu Great Wall. During the drive, your English-speaking tour guide will provide you with historical and cultural context in relation to the Wall so that your trip and be all the more engaging.
Upon arrival, make a short visit to a jade carving factory to learn about the Chinese jade culture and see the unique carving craft. Then you may hike up or take a cable car at your own expense to explore the beauty of the Great Wall. You can take some epic pictures, admire the tensely distributed watchtowers, soak up the stunning natural scenery for around four hours at the Mutianyu Great Wall.
To leave you enough time on the Great Wall, lunch is excluded in this tour, but you may bring bottled water and snack. Later at around 2 pm, rejoin the group and have a relaxing transfer back to your hotel.
