In Tanzania, our guide was a top notch professional and extremely knowledgeable, taking us off the beaten path to provide us with an unrivaled experience in the parks. Our tour operator's advice for Tanzania were also unimpeachable. Our guide provided us with a social and political perspective no travel brochure could provide. It was a privilege for us to have him share his story with us which was honest, raw, and poignant and changed us in profound ways. We surprised by the level of hospitality from the owner of the tour operator, he organized for us a free BBq dinner at the end of our trip and he bother to drive us to the airport himself he made us felt we paid less for all we got. Our guides (Peter and Daniel) amazing guides and very experienced. They checked our gear before the hike to ensure we had everything we needed. They monitored our heat rate and oxygen levels each night. They knew when we needed encouragement and went above and beyond to get all eight of us to the summit. The porters that carried our tents, food, etc were friendly and helpful. The local tour operator knows their stuff. We could not have done it without them. Lake Manyara National Park provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large waterbirds such as pelicans, cormorants and storks.
There is more to Serengeti than large mammals. Gaudy agama lizards and rock hyraxes scuffle around the surfaces of the park’s isolated granite koppies. A full 100 varieties of dung beetle have been recorded, as have 500-plus bird species, ranging from the outsized ostrich and bizarre secretary bird of the open grassland, to the black eagles that soar effortlessly above the Lobo Hills.

A wonderful and rewarding adventure! One of the most challenging and incredible experience in my life. I was challenged physically, mentally and spiritually! I was most inspired by my guide, Philemon as he saw to my every questioned being answered along the way, and the porters who ensured all the necessities were made available. Whenever I doubted my ability to continue the climb, I would ask these gentlemen how do they accomplish this so often with such ease - the enjoyment they have for their clients to experience this very incredible peace of Africa! I felt such a profound connection to nature, to the ancients, to Africa - and how incredible it was to experience all the different climates in one part of a Holy Land!

The Marangu route is easily the most popular way of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Not only is Marangu the least expensive option, it is also shorter as it makes it possible to climb to the summit sooner.
The Marangu route is a classic trek to the top of Kilimanjaro. However, it has the least scenic variety of all routes (ascent and descent are done on the same path) and is the most crowded for that reason. It is the only route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style accommodations. There are 60 bunk beds each at Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 bunk beds at Horombo Hut.
Many favor the Marangu route because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope and direct path. Known as the "Coca-Cola" route, it approaches Kilimanjaro from the southeast. It is the oldest, most well-established route.
The minimum days required for this route is five, although the probability of successfully reaching the top in that time period is quite low. Spending an extra acclimatization day on the mountain is highly recommended.
