East Asia Walking Trips

I would recommend that anyone who can walk should do the Coast to Coast. It was challenging at times but well worth the effort. Great accommodation along the way and a wonderful guide.

I did this trip several years ago and I’m so glad I decided to do it again! The itinerary was very manageable and a good mix of inland and coastal walks. It was a great group and we enjoyed the range of restaurants available, most of them recommended by the tour leader. Tavira is a very pretty and historic town with plenty of activities available and with a good train service to other towns nearby. The hotel was of a high standard with good rooms, helpful staff and a great range for breakfast. There is a choice of two pools, indoor and outdoor, as well as a lovely bar and terrace on the top floor. The tour leader, Ester, was excellent, helpful and caring and very attentive to the various needs of group members.

Excellent guide , Ester and hotel and organisation first class…..eating out each night was a great way to experience even more of Portuguese culture etc.I did expect to be walking along the cost each day but actually we did have a few days walking inland but still enjoyable………..my 22 trip with Explore and shall be booking my 23 soon.WELL DONE EXPLORE

Although we had a good holiday and the accommodation and tour leader were extremely good. We were a little disappointed because we would have liked more coastal walks. We felt the walks inland were a little uninspiring with regards to views etc. That said we do come from the South West of England and are a bit spoilt for coastal walks. Overall we enjoyed the holiday and Ester the guide could not have been better.

Absolutely loved this trip. The hotel was lovely and the staff were so friendly and helpful. It's not a luxury hotel so don't expect minibars and coffee makers but it is clean and comfortable and has a great bar, perfect for this sort of holiday. The walking was fabulous, quiet trails with an abundance of wildflowers and amazing views. There are a lot of steps but everyone can do these at their own pace. Our guide, Guiseppe, was great. The optional trip to Pompeii and Herculaneum was definitely well worth doing, as were the pizza and pasta nights which were great fun.

This was a very enjoyable holiday at exactly the level described, with interesting walks which did not take up the whole day. We explored salt marshes and beaches, cork woodland and towns. The leader we had (Rocio) is knowledgeable and thoughtful and kept us well-informed about the itinerary. She also had good recommendations for evening meals and cafés. The hotel was delightful, with excellent breakfasts, quiet rooms, a rooftop bar and a swimming pool. As an introduction to walking in the Eastern Algarve and the local traditions this was lovely - you have to budget for extra meals out during the day, which sometimes felt excessive for someone who usually does self-catering hols like me, but it did make for a very relaxing time.
