About Martin

I have always been curious about the world and different cultures, which naturally led me to a career in travel. I work as a tour director, leading groups and helping travellers experience destinations in a meaningful and well-organised way. I enjoy the process of bringing an itinerary to life—whether it’s guiding a group through a historic city, sharing local insights, or ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. I’m particularly passionate about travel in Asia and enjoy discovering the culture, food, and unique character of each destination. What motivates me most is seeing travellers connect with a place in a way that creates lasting memories. Outside of work, I enjoy researching destinations, planning itineraries, and learning about transport systems such as rail networks, which I think are one of the best ways to experience a country.

I specialise in leading and organising small group tours across Asia, particularly in destinations such as Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia and Vietnam. My focus is on creating well-paced itineraries that combine iconic highlights with authentic local experiences. As a tour director, I enjoy guiding travellers through historic cities, cultural sites, and scenic regions while helping them understand the stories and traditions behind each destination. I particularly enjoy experiences such as exploring traditional neighbourhoods, visiting temples and heritage sites, experiencing local cuisine, and travelling by rail to see different parts of a country. I also specialise in coordinating complex itineraries that involve multiple cities and transport systems, ensuring that the journey is smooth and enjoyable for travellers. My approach is to balance cultural discovery, efficient travel logistics, and memorable experiences so that guests can focus on enjoying the destination.

Best Travel Experience

One of my most unique travel experiences was working as a cruise director on a Mekong River cruise. The journey travels through Vietnam and Cambodia, allowing travellers to experience life along one of Southeast Asia’s most important rivers. In this role, I guided guests through floating villages, local markets, temples, and small riverside communities that are not easily accessible by road. One of the most memorable parts of the experience was visiting traditional villages where daily life still revolves around the river—seeing fishermen at work, families living in floating houses, and local artisans producing handmade goods. Being on the river also creates a very different style of travel. The pace is slower and more immersive, allowing guests to observe the landscapes and daily life along the Mekong as we cruise between destinations. As a cruise director, I enjoyed sharing the history and culture of the region while ensuring guests felt comfortable and engaged throughout the journey. It was a rewarding experience to help travellers connect with a part of Southeast Asia that many people rarely see.
