This holiday was a fantastic trip for our family (2 adults & 2 teenage girls). The itinerary was varied, with a good mix of activities (walking, cycling, camel riding etc.) alongside more cultural visits to places we wouldn't have otherwise seen (e.g. kasbahs, a salt mine, pottery co-operative, Koranic library and souks) as well as free time at the hotel swimming pools. The accommodation was comfortable and exceeded our expectations for the rural gîte and the desert tents. Our guide, Mohamed Moujane, was excellent. He was informative, fun, attentive to all the guests' needs and smoothly managed all the administrative tasks (e.g. tour guides/tickets/tips etc.). The minibus drivers, Hassan and Mohamed, were also amazing. All the people we met during the holiday were lovely and made the trip both fun and educational for us all.

Excellent overall experience. Would definitely recommend this trip of Morocco to friends and family. Morocco is a beautiful country with beautiful, kind and welcoming people. We felt safe and secure and didn't have to think about anything except enjoying ourselves.

This Moroccan adventure was a trip of a lifetime. The Moroccan people were warm and welcoming, we felt safe everywhere we went, and our children were exposed to cultures and topographies unique to this part of the world. We love traveling with Nat Geo / G Adventures because they take care of every logistical detail as soon as you land, so we were free to enjoy and immerse ourselves in the experience. Our guides and our driver were EXCELLENT every step of the way, and by the end, we all (including the other family we met and traveled with on the tour) felt like family. This was a very special trip that our family will never forget. Can't wait for the next one!

Magic In Action — A Soul-Stirring Journey Through Morocco

I’ve traveled far and wide, Morocco being my 58th country. But this trip wasn’t just travel - it was transformation, standing apart as one of the most enriching, moving, and unforgettable adventures of my life. From the sweeping dunes of the Sahara to the winding alleys of the ancient Medina and the energy of Marrakesh, the poetic beauty of the Atlas Mountains, and the Kasbahs, villages, markets, homes — each day was filled with wonder, beauty, and genuine connection—with the land, its people, and with myself. As someone who prefers traveling spontaneously and on my own, rather than in coordinated groups, two friends and I decided to try it this time, and joined strangers on this organized trip. A huge part of what elevated this journey well beyond expectations was our extraordinary guide, Mohamed. His deep knowledge, thoughtful storytelling, and sincere care brought the history, culture, nature, and spirit of Morocco to life in unforgettable ways. He didn’t just show us Morocco—he shared it with us. With his passion, and genuine kindness, he didn't just lead us—he welcomed us into his culture with warmth and generosity. From shared laughters to heartfelt stories, he made Morocco come alive in ways no brochure or solo travel ever could. The experience was poetry for all senses. Equally important was our driver, Abdoul, whose calm, confident presence made every journey feel completely safe, no matter how winding the road or how chaos-like the road. His skill behind the wheel allowed us to trust, relax, and truly take in the shifting landscapes. The itinerary struck a perfect balance between adventure and rest, busy and quiet, and the thoughtfully selected accommodations—including the magical desert camp and the rustic charm gite —created an atmosphere of authenticity and comfort. And the food! Every meal was a sensory delight, and I found myself not just tasting Moroccan food and tea but truly savoring it as a cultural expression. Oh, and I will never forget surrendering to the traditional —non-touristy — hammam with the local ladies in Thigza at 6400ft altitude. I felt cleansed not just on my skin, but deep scrubbed from years of inner hurts. And the most beautiful part of this trip? The unexpected connections—with locals and with moments of quiet awe. This was more than a vacation. It was a passage into wonder. I have returned transformed and with a yearning to return. I'm deeply grateful to Mohamed and Abdoul, and to all the people along the way, who welcomed us, shared their homes, shared their knowledge, and the love of their country, for taking us far beyond the surface. If you’re looking not just to see Morocco, but to feel it, live it, and carry it home in your soul, I can’t recommend this journey with Exodus highly enough.

Everything was better than we expected. We loved the variety of the itinerary, food and accommodation. Travelling with other families in the group was a great experience for the adults and children. We got on very well which made the experience even more special. Our leader Moha went above and beyond to ensure we were all happy and safe at all times.

Excellent

I saw Morocco in depth on this tour! We met local people, walked the streets and shopped where they shopped in the souks. We sat at the table with restaurant owners and enjoyed their delicious food. We ate oranges still fresh from the sunshine. From the desert to the sea, from the High Atlas to dry valleys and watered canyons, we walked the land of Morocco and felt in awe. Also, we were great travel companions under Yacine's guidance. Yala, Yala!

Travel Highlights

  • Morocco has two popular dune systems - Erg Chebbi and Erg Chigaga. Erg Chebbi is well-traveled and developed, while Erg Chigaga is known for its wild vista and peaceful ambiance
  • The entry point of Erg Chebbi is the village of Merzouga from where one can do the most popular Moroccan Sahara activity of camel trekking amidst the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi.
  • Erg Chigaga provides an off-the-beaten-track experience. Book a 4x4 jeep safari to reach the dune fields of Erg Chigaga.
  • Stargazing under the desert night sky comes highly recommended due to the profusion of twinkling stars in an exceptionally clear sky with no light pollution.

Travel Tips

  • Be prepared for a long driving time (at least 8-10 hours) when accessing the Moroccan Sahara, whether it is Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga.
  • The journey to the desert itself is a travel experience like no other, with ancient kasbahs, enchanting oases, and lush palmeries dotting the way.
  • The desert temperature always fluctuates, so dress in layers and carry warm clothes for chilly desert nights.
  • Sahara gets unbearably hot between the summer months of June to September, so it is best avoided.
