Reviews of our Malta Tours for Winter
Feedback from guests who toured Malta during Winter.
I cannot think of one thing the whole trip was fantastic or tour guide Michela , was so fantastic. You truly felt that you were family. She explained everything told us what we expect ahead of time took care of everyone’s needs and still made it so much fun a bunch of us were in our 70s and upper 70s and did not feel that we couldn’t keep up with the tour because it was done so well I think one of the best vacations that we ever took
Excellent 4 days tour in Malta . All very welll organized. Excellent local guide during the two full day tours. Anthony was knowledgeable and flexible as to go beyond the scheduled visits. Fabulous the Hotel offered in downtown Valletta. 4 days went by really fast in this amazing island. Thanks a lot
In this 5 days tour we almost visited the entire Island. Extremely complete Tour. Knowledgeable local guide, perfect transportation as well as the driver Jonathan. Our Hotel was in a great location in the center of Sliema. We had a was spacious and very clean room. Stunning views from the rooftop pool. Very good breakfast. Everything you need to visit Malta in 5 days
Hotel Pietrad' Acqua in Sicily had terrible accommodations. Their restaurant was closed after breakfast and there were no nearby places to eat. The hotel was in the middle of nowhere and we had nothing to do. Therefore we were forced to take an optional tour so we had something to do and a place to eat. Our tour guide went above and beyond to make sure we were able to be transported to places to eat. The Maltese village tour was substandard with terrible food. Our group is requesting compensation for a terrible stay at this hotel. The other two hotels were wonderful. This was our second tour with Collette.
IN Sicily we were out at a hotel which the amenities were closed for the season. We had only breakfast and if we stayed at the hotel there was no lunch or dinner. We all booked the optional tour out of survival to eat and see Sicily .Who did the research Hotel Pietrad’aqua in Sicily that was closed for the season? Our group is demanding a refund on the tour and hotel stay. Thank goodness for our tour manager who had our bus driver return to take us to a local place for dinner and did the same thing our last night. We paid to see Sicily not an empty hotel. If we don’t get a refund we won’t be using Collette again! There are 6 in my party and this was our 2nd trip with Collette . Also the tour to a Maltese Village was a waste of time. We saw a quarry and a few old building and a church . Following this we were brought to a room with folding tables and chairs and had a horrible meal. It was equivalent to being in an American Legion. If you want to support a small town do the senseless tour and let us go back to Malta and eat at one of the fabulous restaurants. Terrible day !! We paid a lot for this trip to sit thru 45 minutes of a man holding up a picture of 3 bees and talking about it. They sold substandard merchandise. Nice people but a ridiculous waste of a day that we paid dearly for. The rest of the tours and the 2 other hotels were wonderful.
Weve just returned from a week in the stunning TaCenc Hotel on the cliffs of the south coast of Gozo, which was a last-minute booking and proved to be an excellent choice. We had a very comfortable room which opened out onto the poolside, in this well designed single storey complex of rooms and trulli, in its own landscape of limestone and flowers. While the weather was quite warm and sunny, there was always a breeze (or more) which stopped us using the pools, but there was also a spa with warm in/outdoor pool and all facilities the perfect end to a day of walking. The food was superb, with buffet breakfasts and four course dinners, and the service was immaculate. The holiday is self-guided and we did most of the walks suggested by the tour operator, sometimes bumping into other hotel guests on the way; the walk notes wed been given were so detailed we never got lost. But we did miss the group activity that are such a feature of the previous group holidays wed been on with this tour operator that people benefit enormously from. The hotel had a courtesy bus into the main town Victoria, from where local buses went out to all the villages, so we either caught them or walked from the hotel. The cliff walks were amazing and the flowers a myriad of colours; the views were stunning. The limestone quarrying and the salt pans fascinated us but we were upset by the evidence everywhere of the shooting of migrating birds. Being early in the season, some of the villages were sleepy, but there are many fine churches and archaeological sites to visit, as well as the citadel and museums in Victoria. We liked the folklore museum in Gharb and it was good to hire bikes and explore the villages (though the drivers are crazy!). It would have been easy to have a day on Malta by bus and ferry but we had no time.
