Rovaniemi Winter Experience

Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure, or explore the vibrant seaside city, its beautiful islands, and lush green urban areas. Helsinki has a unique charm, with dynamic food, design, architecture, and a rich sauna culture.

After breakfast, enjoy a Panorama tour of Helsinki by bus, exploring key landmarks like the historical center, City Hall, Parliament buildings, Finlandia Hall and the Opera House. The tour includes a 20-minute stop at the Temppeliaukio Church or the Sibelius Monument. In the evening, board the Santa Claus Express for an overnight journey to Rovaniemi.

Overnight in train to Rovaniemi

Good morning! Light breakfast on board the train, you will be then make your own way from Rovaniemi railway station to the hotel for check-in. You can then relax for the day or explore the local sights on your own. Lapland is the ultimate winter wonderland for dreamers. The region's charm lies in its contrasts, with 24-hour sunlight in the summer replacing the enchanting, frozen winter days. Just minutes from the lively towns and ski resorts, you can find the tranquility of the wilderness. In the evening, meet your tour escort in the hotel lobby for an info meeting through which you will get all the necessary information about the flow of your tour. Meeting time to be advised. Enjoy your dinner at the hotel.

Overnight in Rovaniemi

After breakfast, start the day with an adrenaline rush and speed! Today, you will have the opportunity to join a guided 02-hour snowmobile safari. This thrilling adventure offers a fantastic chance to learn how to master driving the snowmobile. During the safari, there will be a stop for a break to enjoy hot drinks and experience the peaceful silence of the wilderness. To drive a snowmobile, you must present an international driving license of category B. If you don’t have a driving license, you can join as a passenger. All necessary equipment will be provided. In the afternoon you may book our optional tour of Reindeer safari. Enjoy dinner at the hotel upon your return.

Optional: Reindeer Safari (2hrs)
A traditional reindeer ride through a snow-covered forest is an unforgettable experience! You will meet your reindeer herder at the resort’s reception and walk together to the nearby reindeer farm. Sit comfortably in the sleigh, relax, take photos of the surrounding nature, and listen to the sounds of the reindeer caravan. After the ride, we’ll enjoy hot drinks in a typical Finnish ‘kota’ teepee and learn about reindeer herding in Lapland.

In the morning after breakfast, dive into the magic of Lapland. Your first stop will be Santa Claus Village, located on the Arctic Circle. You will travel to the village by coach. Once there, you will have free time to visit Santa Claus in his office, check out the post office and officially cross the Arctic Circle, which runs through the village. Next, enjoy the beautiful nature of Lapland on a husky safari! Relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings as the guide drives your husky sled. After the safari, you can warm up by an open fire in the husky yard and spend some time with the dogs. (The experience lasts 20 minutes, with about 10 minutes of sled driving). In the evening, embark on a 03-hour guided Aurora Evening tour! Enjoy the fresh winter air and have a chance to see the Northern Lights in the sky. You will travel by car to a nearby wilderness area with little or no light pollution. During the tour, learn about Arctic nature and hear stories about the local culture and history. There will also be a break to enjoy hot drinks and sweet snacks. At the end of the excursion, you will return to the city by bus. Enjoy your dinner at the hotel

Optional: Ice Fishing (2-3hrs)
Join our professional ice fishing guide on a trip to a frozen wilderness lake in the middle of the forest. Here, you can learn how to lure fish from under the ice using special ice fishing gear. On this trip, you can truly enjoy the silence and tranquility of winter nature. While ice fishing, our guide will serve hot drinks from a thermos.

After breakfast, enjoy a free day to explore Rovaniemi and its surroundings at your own pace! You can visit the impressive Arktikum Museum to learn about the Sami, the descendants of nomadic people. Alternatively, you can shop in town or take a stroll along the Ounasjoki River to soak in the winter beauty of Lapland.

Optional: Day trip to Ranua Wildlife Park (4-5hrs)
Located one hour away from Rovaniemi, the Ranua Wildlife Park is the northernmost wildlife park in the world. It is home to approximately 50 wild animal species and 200 individual animals. In the park, you can see polar bears, brown bears, wild reindeer, wolves, wolverines, lynxes, predatory birds, otters, wild boars and many others!

Note: This tour is not recommended for travelers with very limited mobility, a certain amount of walking is involved (2.5KM)

Optional: Aurora Borealis Ice-Floating (3hrs)
Dip yourself into a frozen lake under the Auroras and let your mind rest—sounds bizarre, doesn’t it? Tonight, this is possible when you go to a private secret venue. This guided floating is totally safe with a high-quality rescue suit that covers your whole body and keeps you dry. As you have your own clothing under the suit, you will not get cold even in the open 0-degree water. The circumstances are truly arctic! If the weather is clear, we can see beautiful stars and may even get to marvel at the magnificent Northern Lights.

Optional: Snowshoe Fun (2hrs)
Taking a walk with snowshoes is a fun way to play in the snow and explore the forest—all you need is positive energy! Our guide will take you to winter wonderland-like landscapes where we’ll find the perfect spot to enjoy the peace and quiet, take photos, and have fun in the snow!

After breakfast, depending on your flight details, you can still enjoy some last-minute shopping for souvenirs, stroll through the streets, and explore the city of Rovaniemi. Make your own way to Rovaniemi Airport for your return flight home.
