Itinerary
Delve into one of Zanzibar’s most significant and sobering historical chapters on the Zanzibar Slave Trade Tour. This three-hour guided trip begins and ends at your resort, taking you through Stone Town’s evocative alleys to key sites such as Kelele Square, the former house of trader Tippu Tip, and the notorious Mkunazini market where slaves were once cruelly auctioned.
Gain insight into Dr. David Livingstone’s abolition efforts at his historic house, and finally, visit the Mangapwani chamber—an eerie reminder of the island’s role as a transit hub for the slave trade. Designed for experienced travelers and families interested in history, this tour package’s unique selling point is its in-depth exploration of Zanzibar’s complex past, offering both education and reflection in a single, accessible outing.

A touching tour
Our great guide, Musa, met us at our hotel and we left together with Seif who drove us around to see the most important sites pertaining to the slave trade on the main island. The sites were incredibly interesting to see but it was Musa's detailed explanations and discussion which really helped us out everything into context. We thank Musa for his excellent company, a gentleman of old :) We highly recommend this tour.
