From the wild wetlands of the Pantanal to the urban rhythm of Rio de Janeiro and the colonial charm of Paraty, the Discover Pantanal, Rio & Costa Verde tour is a 14-day private journey through Brazil’s most enchanting destinations. Explore the world’s largest tropical wetlands, ascend Sugarloaf Mountain by cable car, hike scenic trails to hidden beaches, and unwind on the forested island of Ilha Grande.

day 1 - Campo Grande arrival and transfer to Pousada Aguapé

Your private transfer will be waiting for you on arrival in Campo Grande. Drive to Pousada Aguape (195 kilometres), located on the edge of the Pantanal, a natural region encompassing the world's largest tropical wetland area.

Spot alligators bathing in the sun and capibaras (semi-aquatic rodents) wandering in the wild. Also see a variety of multi-coloured birds.

Reach your destination in the afternoon. Settle in before your first shared excursion of the surrounding areas.

day 2 - Pousada Aguapé

You can join one of the many shared activities in and around Pousada Aguapé during your stay and discover the rich biodiversity of the Pantanal. The activities and excursions will be led by an English-speaking tour guide and the group is limited to the maximum of 12 people.

Among the activities offered are sunrise hike, boat tour in the Aquidauana River, piranha fishing in the Aquidauana, a safari trip in off-road vehicles, nocturnal wildlife spotting, a horseback riding tour, a pleasant tour to the surrounding fields and farms in a horse carriage and cattle handling, in which you can accompany local cowboys at work in a cattle farm.

Please note that your tour guide might decide to add or remove activities based on availability and weather conditions.

day 4 - Pousada Aguapé – Rio De Janeiro

Enjoy a shared excursion in the morning and have lunch before heading for Campo Grande. Please note that you will leave Pousada according to your flight schedule.

We will pick you up at the airport in Rio De Janeiro on arrival and transfer you to your hotel.

day 5 - Rio De Janeiro: Corcovado & Santa Teresa

Your sightseeing tour of Rio starts in the morning, at 09:00. Your first destination is Corcovado, where you can see the famous statue of Christ the Redeemer, which is known all over the world as the symbol of Rio. Take time to appreciate the amazing views on reaching the top.

Your next destination is Santa Teresa, which used to be one of the wealthiest residential neighbourhoods of Rio when it was the capital of Brazil. Since the neighbourhood has lost its former glory and the wealth of the area has moved to southwestern Rio, Santa Teresa now shelters a diverse population in its bohemian quarters.

Later, take a gondola to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain, yet another symbol of Rio. Return to your hotel at around 5:00 pm. Please note that entrance fees to the destinations mentioned on the itinerary are included in the tour price.

day 6 - Rio De Janeiro: Hike the Pedra Bonita

Your English-speaking tour guide will meet you at your hotel at 09:00 am and drive you to Sao Conrado Beach. Located in the heart of the city, this green oasis of 3,200 hectares is the biggest urban forest in the world, and the best option to hike in and around Rio.

Start your hike after that. Traverse the tropical forest located in the middle of the city. The trail is relatively short, around 35 to 40 minutes of steep climb. On your way up, you'll see some opening in the forest from where you can see glimpses of the beautiful city. See the impressive Pedra da Gavea (842 m) right in front of you and towering above the beach and neighbourhood of Sao Conrado on reaching the top. To your left is Dois Irmaos Mountain, the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon and the southern side of Rio skirted by beaches. On your right, you'll see the Barra neighbourhood. Take time to enjoy the amazing scenery and take some nice pictures before its time to head down the same path.

Depending on the time of your return, you might get the chance to go down to the other side of Tijuca Park via Vista Chinesa and Mesa do Imperador, both great viewing points.

day 7 - Free day in Rio De Janeiro

day 8 - Rio De Janeiro – Paraty

Leave your hotel in the morning and head for Paraty with your local driver in a private, air-conditioned car. The drive is four and a half hours long and takes you across a corridor between sea and mountains.

Check into your hotel on arrival. You are free for the rest of the day. Nestled in the foothills of Serra do Mar, Paraty is a Unesco World Heritage site and home to Brazil’s colonial heritage.

Feel free to discover its rich heritage while taking a walk along its narrow-paved streets and witness the grandeur of 17th and 18th century architecture.

day 9 - Paraty: Private boat tour

Meet your captain and head for the pier by 9:00 in the morning. Board a private fishing boat modified for tour purpose. Sail through the Bay of Paraty, travelling from one island to another. Stops at different sites suitable for swimming or snorkeling (mask and snorkel included). Drive back to your accommodation after the tour is over.

day 10 - Paraty: Hike to Ponta Negra

Your English-speaking guide will meets you at the hotel and walk with you to the bus station from where you will take the bus to the village of Laranjeiras (30-minutes trip).

The trek starts with a short climb before you enter an Atlantic forest (Mata Atlantica) at the heart of the Ecological Preservation Area of Joatinga. After an hour and a half of pleasant walk, you will reach the hamlet of Sono, located close to one of the nicest beaches in the region, Praia Do Sono.

Travel past Praia Da Velha and Praia Dos Antigos before you reach the fishing village of Ponta Negra. Spend some time there before it is time to return by boat to Laranjeiras, from where you will take the bus to Paraty. You will walk for around three hours in total today. Please note that your guide can change today’s itinerary based om weather conditions.

day 11 - Paraty – Ilha Grande

Leave your hotel in Paraty and travele to Angra dos Reis in a private, air-conditioned vehicle. This journey will take approximately one and a half hours. Board a speedboat and cross Ilha Grande. Please note that the guide won’t be there during this 20-minute crossing.

Meet our representative at the pier on the other side and head for your hotel in Pousada. Stay overnight at Pousada Naturalia.

Please note that the total time you spend on this journey today is two and a half hours.
