Itinerary
Brazil’s wonders await on this 12-day group tour, inviting young adults and adventurous travelers to discover Rio de Janeiro, the thundering Iguassu Falls, and the sprawling Pantanal wetlands. Beginning in Rio, you’ll sightsee iconic landmarks like Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain, and hike through the lush Tijuca Forest, the world’s largest urban rainforest.
A boat trip to Ilha Grande Bay reveals hidden coves and vibrant vegetation, while the journey continues to Foz do Iguacu for a dual perspective on one of the world’s largest waterfalls—viewed from both Brazil and Argentina. The grand finale unfolds in the Pantanal, a Unesco World Heritage site teeming with wildlife and shaped by three unique biomes: Amazon, Cerrado, and Atlantic Forest.
What sets this easy-paced trip apart is its sweeping coverage of Brazil’s top natural attractions, all under the care of experienced guides and with thoughtful COVID-19 safety protocols. The tour package offers a seamless blend of city life, natural beauty, and unique ecosystems.
day 1 - Welcome to Rio
We will pick you up at Rio de Janeiro airport/bus station (SDU or GIG) and take you to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day exploring the city at your leisure!
day 2 - Exploring Rio de Janeiro
We start the day by visiting Corcovado, home to the Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, located in Tijuca National Park, a place rich in natural beauty.
Next, we’ll make a stop at the exterior of Maracanã Stadium to learn a bit about its history, including its role as the venue for the 1950 and 2014 FIFA World Cup finals.
The tour continues toward the Sambadrome, the stage for Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Carnival samba school parades. We’ll also visit the Metropolitan Cathedral of São Sebastião, the city’s patron saint.
We’ll pause for lunch (not included).
Our journey resumes with a visit to the Sugarloaf Mountain complex, where we’ll board the world-famous Sugarloaf cable car to explore Morro da Urca and Praia Vermelha.
We end our day exploring Rio de Janeiro with stops at the iconic beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon.
day 3 - Discovering Tijuca Forest
We begin our ecological tour at the base of Pedra Bonita, home to Rio de Janeiro’s hang gliding and paragliding ramp. Its privileged location offers stunning views of Morro Dois Irmãos, São Conrado Beach, and Rocinha Favela. From here, we’ll start the Pedra Bonita hike, a light walk that takes about 40 minutes to reach the summit. At the top, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Pedra da Gávea, Barra da Tijuca Beach, and São Conrado, surrounded by the vastness of Tijuca Forest. This is a natural lookout and one of the best spots for photographing Rio de Janeiro.
After descending from Pedra Bonita, we’ll continue our Ecological Tour through Tijuca National Park toward Vista Chinesa, an oriental-style pavilion built between 1902 and 1906 to honor the Chinese who brought tea cultivation to Brazil. The “pagoda,” as the original structure is called, is strategically positioned to offer a stunning panoramic view. From here, you can see several landmarks, including Christ the Redeemer, Guanabara Bay, Sugarloaf Mountain, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, and the beaches of Ipanema and Leblon.
To conclude our Ecological Tour, we’ll take a refreshing swim at Horto Waterfall. The trail to the waterfall is easy, with a few obstacles along the way, and is located within the limits of Tijuca National Park.
day 4 - Welcome to Foz do Iguaçu!
We will take you to Rio de Janeiro Airport (SDU or GIG) and pick you up at Foz do Iguaçu Airport (IGU), then drop you off at your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day exploring the city at your leisure!
day 5 - Explore the Brazilian Side of the Iguassu Falls
In the morning, we will visit the Brazilian side of the falls, offering a complete panoramic view. It is considered the best way to grasp the sheer magnitude and wonder of this place. We’ll take a 1.5 km walk through nature, getting closer to the main highlight on the central bridge, which brings you right near the falls. It’s a proper baptism, with everyone getting wet from the spray of this incredible natural wonder.
After visiting the Iguaçu Falls, you will head to the Bird Park, where you will discover the diversity of tropical birds.
In the afternoon, our bilingual guide will take you to Aguaray Ecosport, a protected area next to the National Park. Here, a 45-minute trail through the preserved Atlantic Forest leads to the edge of the Iguaçu River, where you will begin a guided tour on a kayak or stand-up paddleboard. After approximately 1.5 hours of breathtaking paddling, we’ll embark on a 20-minute trail to a 15-meter-high waterfall. A perfect experience for any nature lover!
day 6 - Explore the Argentine Side of the Falls
We will start the day heading toward Argentina. Upon arriving at the National Park area, we will walk approximately 5 km across various waterfalls that together form one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature: the Iguaçu Falls. The experience on the Argentine side immerses you deeply in nature, offering opportunities to observe native animals and the lush vegetation of the park’s subtropical forest. You will walk along three different trails, each providing unique viewpoints of the falls. A major highlight is the view of the Devil’s Throat: a platform that takes you right in front of these impressive waterfalls.
It is mandatory to carry valid photo identification (ID or Passport) to cross the border into Argentina.
day 7 - Welcome to Pantanal
We will take you to Foz do Iguaçu Airport (IGU) and pick you up at Campo Grande International Airport (CGR) with a car transfer to the Lodge in the Pantanal, located in an area called Passo do Lontra.
Today, we’ll take a guided walk through the Pantanal, offering a unique immersion in nature, perfect for those looking to connect with local life. Accompanied by an experienced guide, you’ll learn to interpret the forest’s signs and understand the ecosystem’s complexity, discovering traditional uses of plants and observing how small details in nature, like leaves and branches, can indicate the presence of predators. Experience the Pantanal’s biodiversity, from the world of insects to the towering trees that maintain the region’s balance, engaging all your senses on this fascinating ecological journey.
In the late afternoon, we’ll enjoy a sunset boat tour with nocturnal spotting, known as the night safari. During the tour, you may spot animals like caimans, capybaras, wild pigs, anteaters, birds, and, with luck, big cats such as jaguars and ocelots. The safari can be done during the day or at night, offering encounters with nocturnal animals and stunning views of the sky. For better observation, we recommend using binoculars.
day 8 - Discover and Fish in the Miranda River
We’ll begin the day with traditional piranha fishing in the Pantanal. Passo do Lontra, located in the Corumbá Pantanal, is one of Brazil’s top fishing destinations, a true natural aquarium with various species, including the famous piranha. On this tour, you’ll have the opportunity to fish this iconic Pantanal species in the Miranda River while enjoying broths prepared and served after the fishing.
Floating in the Pantanal rivers is a safe activity, even with the presence of piranhas and caimans, thanks to these animals’ natural behavior and safety measures adopted by local guides. Piranhas, for instance, do not attack humans under normal conditions, especially in areas with abundant natural food, as in the Pantanal. Caimans, despite their imposing appearance, prefer to avoid human contact and focus on their natural prey. Additionally, tours are conducted by experienced guides who understand local fauna behavior and select the best times and locations, ensuring a peaceful and fascinating experience connecting with nature. Floating is, therefore, an optional activity like any other in the package.
In the late afternoon, we’ll enjoy a river safari. During the tour, you may spot animals like caimans, capybaras, wild pigs, anteaters, birds, and, with luck, big cats such as jaguars and ocelots. The safari is conducted during the day, offering wildlife encounters and stunning views. For better observation, we recommend using binoculars.
day 9 - Experience Pantaneiro Culture
After breakfast, we will start our morning with a Pantanal Horseback Ride. Riding in the Pantanal offers a unique safari experience on horseback, allowing for full immersion in nature and the daily life of the Pantanal cowboy. Even without riding experience, you will explore trails and hard-to-reach areas, with opportunities to spot wildlife such as buffalo and blooming ipês. This is an exciting way to discover the secrets and spectacular landscapes of the Pantanal.
In the afternoon, we will go canoeing on the Miranda River. Canoeing offers an incredible experience navigating the winding channels of the Pantanal. During the trip, you may spot birds such as hawks and herons, as well as small animals.
day 10 - Wildlife Observation
On this day, we will take a guided walk through the Pantanal, offering a unique immersion in nature, perfect for those looking to connect with local life. Accompanied by an experienced guide, you will learn to interpret the forest’s signs and understand the ecosystem’s complexity. Discover traditional plant uses and observe how small natural details, like leaves and branches, can signal the presence of predators. Experience the Pantanal’s biodiversity, from the world of insects to the towering trees that maintain the region’s delicate balance, engaging all your senses in this fascinating ecological journey.
The other activity of the day will be the Land Safari. During the tour, you may spot animals such as caimans, capybaras, wild pigs, anteaters, birds, and, with luck, big cats like jaguars and ocelots. The land safari is conducted in a 4×4 vehicle along the Pantanal’s park road. For better observation, we recommend using binoculars.
